Protect your corporate data using Microsoft Edge for mobile platforms

Trying to understand the differences, under the covers, between "require approved client app" and "require app protection policy".  I understand "require approved client app" will no longer be supported in 2026, but I'm concerned about issues arising with the constant updates which break features in Edge.  Without knowing the exact differences, I'm concerned about moving our CA policies over to the newer "require app protection policy" setting. 

We've already had a case open for Edge not authenticating properly, breaking APP policies.  This took at least a month to fix causing multiple issues with our users. 

Statement from MS Support:
"There were recent changes done by the Edge team beginning from 125.2535.72 update with how the Edge app authenticates that lead to the sign in issue happening. They have been actively working on resolving the matter until they managed to release the 126.2592.67 build which has resolved the authentication problem."
