w4lter - could not agree more on the contacts thing... There is not yet feature parity with SfB, even if MS claims... I have no clue how often i already complained about this. And it seems there is demand for that...
In addition, an issue we heavily see in our Org (20 countries, 50 facilities) - literally everything in other PBX worlds is centered around phone numbers, not (user) Accounts. This is giving us a really hard time migrating to Teams telephony from a huge set of different PBX's. And Microsoft is really making things difficult to migrate towards Teams and then pull things straight (especially licensing, missing/different features with license A, B, C - you have drawbacks with everything you use and you can not combine the good of A with the good of B). We are busy for the next 10 years...
Also a thing that is heavily missed... the relatively new Shared Device capability, so that some "service account" with Shared Device license can sign in to an Android phone and have a nice and reduced interface that basically only allows Calls and Walkie Talkie on the phone. We are desperately in need for this reduced interface (if possible without Walkie Talkie) even for regular F or E licensed users.... That would give us the chance to some degree to get rid of DECT phones.
Another 2 requirements we have:
- number masking... when i call e. g. a "short number" that is defined via dial plan... - lets assume a 12345... DP will translate that 12345 to e. g. +99 234 789 0. We however would need for some specific numbers that this dialed/translated number does NOT appear for the ones that dial the 12345.. that should remain on 12345. This is for privacy reasons (in our case the shown number was noted and privately misused afterwards)
- control on who is allowed to call 'UserX' via Teams internal calls (e. g. only UserA, B and C are allowed to call UserX (where UserX is e. g. a paging system or a door opener connected via SIP gateway). Currently anyone within our ecosystem can open DoorX or use PagerY in SiteZ - Even when the caller sits in EU and pages a production floor in US - as it is all in the same huge directory)
...and there is a lot more on my wish list... (e. g. AA+CQ's.... have greetings in multiple languages within one AA/CQ; instead of disconnect only, play greeting and then disconnect etc etc etc... the list is long...)
