Microsoft Bookings – New and upcoming features

Microsoft Bookings is used by millions of users and organizations globally to offer services to their end-customers. In this blog we will cover three exciting new capabilities that will be available in Bookings very soon!

 

Capturing customer leads with Microsoft Bookings and Dynamics 365

 

Keeping track of potential customer leads is essential to any business. We recently launched a Bookings connector with Microsoft Power Automate which can help you do exactly that.

Here is a sample flow you can build with Power Automate that connects Bookings with Dynamics 365. This flow integrates a Bookings trigger, "When an appointment is created" and a Dataverse action, "Add a new row".

This flow gets triggered every time a customer books an appointment on the booking page. Customer information, like name and email will get added as a new row and will be visible in Dynamics 365.

 

Enabling post-appointment reminders for follow-up consultations

 

One of our popular use cases is virtual consultations between doctors and patients. Patients visit the booking page of hospitals, select a required service and book appointments as per their availability. Patients receive reminders before the appointment to ensure they don’t miss their appointment.

 

We are launching a brand-new feature, follow-up reminders, which will allow you to engage with your customers after the appointment.

 

Admins of a Bookings page can configure email follow-ups to the customer at specific intervals. In the below image, there are two email follow-ups configured. The first one is sent to the customer 15 minutes after the appointment and asks the customer for feedback on the service. The second one is sent two weeks after the appointment is completed with a thank you note and asks the customer to book their next appointment.

Naming policy: Manage the names of the Bookings pages at the organization level

 

We are releasing a new policy which will allow Microsoft 365 tenant admins to manage the naming policy of all Booking pages within the organization. These naming policy settings will be available in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

 

Today, tenant admins can create a list of blocked words in groups in the Microsoft 365 admin center, which prevents people in the organization from creating a group with that blocked word. We have leveraged the same functionality in Bookings as well. By enabling this new setting in the Microsoft 365 admin center, users will be unable to create Bookings calendars with blocked words.

 

In addition, we are introducing two new settings for configuring a prefix and suffix for booking pages for the entire tenant. Users will see this prefix and suffix when creating and editing their booking pages.

  • When will it be possible to book multiple appointments? We want to work with appointments that last the whole day and our customers should be able to book these appointments voor multiple days, not necessarily connected. For example a customer should be able to book appointsments in the next coming month (december 2022) on thusday 1-12 + wednesday 7-12 + tuesday 13-12 + friday 24-12. It will be used for booking daycare.

    When will the ability to add an additional customer to a booked appointment be possible? Our sales team book 'onboarding' calls for their prospects but having the option for multiple attendees currently means they can double book and 2 different clients added to the Teams call. Currently we are booking in under 1 customer then manually forwarding on the Teams link in another Outlook Calendar meeting request.

  • So happy Power Automated is now possible... However - will there be a way to get fields that work for group Bookings. Would love to be able to create a flow that will update my existing training tracker . 

    I too would love yicauble  suggestion of a 'Attended/not attended' field. Post training I could then have a flow at the end of a week , or once attendance is updated that the data adds a row to an excel file. 

     

    Updating/Tracking attendees is a pain at the moment, the TVS file needs converting to Excel, only goes back 120 days. Not the most intuitive for a booking software.
