Happy New Year from the Project team! With the holiday season coming to a close, the January update will return to the normal rhythm.

The December updates for Project for the Web are as follows:

Upcoming Features

  • Extended Timeline Zoom ~ Get a more complete picture of your long-term project in the Timeline view by using 4 new zoom scale options.
  • Grid Conditional Coloring ~ Create rules on various project fields to visually highlight patterns in the project data.
  • Increased Taks Limit ~ Create up to 1,000 tasks in a single project.
  • Advanced Dependencies ~ Set non-default dependencies between tasks such as Start-to-Start, Finish-to-Finish and Start-to-Finish dependencies.

Looks like the Assigned to Me feature is now on the development list.  A planned release of August.  Great Microsoft Project Team !  Please include some grouping information like Sprint, Bucket.

Now, the hope is it is useful for 365 users, guests, etc.  Basically all assignees.  View-only is better than nothing, but basic user interaction (comments, status) is standard on popular alternatives.  I'd love to see this done well as groups are silo'ing themselves into Planner, Project, Lists, etc. without a good integrated solution today.

Another hope is an improved Timeline/Gantt view.  OpenProject has one of the best I've used.  You can save lists with filters, sorting, formatting, etc., and choose how the Gantt shows that data to the right (left, right, and far right fields).  I'm sure there are other good designs out there, but the point is that the timeline view is important for sharing information and the view we have today is lacking in that department and ready to advance.

Some good features in the works.

Could anyone tell me why in Project Online there are no standard features like "assigned to me" and you can't have a conversation on task without integrating with a Team?

    I am a bit disappointed...

Agree, having tasks inside MS Project link tasks to MS To Do is a big selling point. It would be nice to know that this is planned into the development and the timeline for release.

Yes, here are four good features for project management, it is very good to increase to 1000 tasks. Also, if you can add the baseline feature, that would be great too

Fully agree! Not having this capability is loosing interest in the integration of Teams into Project Management at my company...

I am disappointed to see that the “Assigned to Me” feature is not being addressed. Last October on the Ignite blog, Microsoft had announced that it would be “rolling out in a couple of months” it hasn’t been mentioned since and isn’t on the roadmap. I think I speak for everyone when I say we would appreciate being kept up to date on the status of this feature as it is the mostly highly requested and, in my opinion, the most important missing feature to Project.
