Today, we are excited to announce the release of Cumulative Update 8 (CU8) for Skype for Business Server 2019. In addition to fixes for customer-driven bugs and security hardening improvements, CU8 brings back a popular feature—Persistent Chat (PChat)—and concludes the final phase of our improvements to the Modern Admin Control Panel (MACP).
You can download the installer for CU8 and the installer for PChat from here.
Persistent Chat
PChat plays a pivotal role in promoting collaboration by enabling users to create discussion rooms centered around specific topics, with those conversations persisted over time. We’ve brought PChat back to Skype for Business Server based on customer feedback and requests, and we’re excited to provide a separate installer that includes an option to install PChat in CU8.
Modern Admin Control Panel
We’ve completed Phase 3, our final phase, of enhancements to MACP (you can read more about our efforts in Phase 1 and Phase 2). Phase 3 adds the following admin experiences to MACP:
- IM & Presence Dedicated tab for instant messaging and presence management.
- Security Centralized security-related settings for access control, authentication methods, and encryption.
- Monitoring & Archiving Real-time monitoring and archiving for tracking system performance, user activity, and maintaining compliance.
- Network Configuration Fine-tune network settings, optimize performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless connectivity.
- Clients Manage client applications, configure client policies, update versions, and address compatibility concerns.
- PChat Manage topic-based discussion rooms.
In addition to the features mentioned above, CU8 also introduces support for SQL Server 2022.
