Today we meet Simran who recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering from Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Technology and Sports Complex in India.

When did you join the Student Ambassadors community?
I joined the Student Ambassadors community in October 2022.
What was being a Student Ambassador like?
Being a Student Ambassador was an enriching journey that allowed me to grow personally and professionally. I was able to actively learn through the Microsoft Learn platform, earning numerous badges and certifications. The experience involved organizing study groups, facilitating Cloud Skills Challenges, and mentoring peers, which helped me foster my very own collaborative community. It was rewarding to inspire others, share knowledge globally, and contribute to the growth of fellow learners while honing my leadership skills.
Was there a specific experience you had while you were in the program that had a profound impact on you and why?
Co-organizing Microsoft Ambassadors Aurora Kolkata '24 had a profound impact on me. The event, which hosted over 250 attendees, including students and professionals, was a unique opportunity to showcase Microsoft technologies like Azure AI and more. Bringing together tech enthusiasts and experts, it fostered an environment of collaboration and inspiration. Seeing the community's excitement and the meaningful connections made was incredibly rewarding. It highlighted the importance of creating safe and engaging spaces where knowledge can be shared freely and enthusiastically.
Microsoft Ambassadors Aurora KolkaTell us about a technology you had the chance to gain a skillset in as a Student Ambassador. How has this skill you acquired helped you in your post-university journey?
During my time as a Student Ambassador, I gained skills in Azure AI and with that knowledge, I imparted my knowledge by organizing and leading AI-900 study groups. This experience allowed me to deepen my understanding of cloud-based AI services and machine learning. It has been invaluable in my post-university journey, as it helped me apply AI solutions to real-world problems, mentor others in Azure, and leverage cloud technologies in various projects, enhancing my technical expertise and career prospects.

I believe the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador Program is transformative for students globally. It connects you with a vibrant community that transcends borders, offering invaluable mentorship from industry leaders and exclusive previews of cutting-edge technologies. Personally, I’ve grown my technical skills and built lasting relationships with peers who share my passion for innovation. The program fosters leadership and community building, empowering us to host events and inspire others. It’s an incredible opportunity to embrace lifelong learning and growth. Joining this program can truly enhance your skills and help you make a meaningful impact in your community and beyond.
What advice would you give to new Student Ambassadors, who are just starting in the program?
To new Student Ambassadors, I encourage you to embrace every opportunity for growth and connection. Don’t join just for the swag; dive into the resources available, like Azure credits, to innovate and experiment. Engage actively with the community, ask questions, share knowledge, and learn from each other. Participate in events and take advantage of workshops to sharpen your skills. Remember, we all start as learners. Your contributions will strengthen our community, and the relationships you build will be invaluable. Enjoy the journey, keep your passion alive, and never underestimate the impact of your involvement. The more you give, the more you’ll grow!
Share a favorite quote with us! It can be from a movie, a song, a book, or someone you know personally. Tell us why you chose this. What does it mean for you?
Two quotes that resonate with me are: "Don't cut corners" and "कोशिश करने वालों की कभी हार नहीं होती," which means "Those who try never fail." The Hindi quote is from a famous poem by Sohanlal Dwivedi, and it's something my parents often remind me of. These words inspire me to put in genuine effort and stay persistent, no matter the challenges. They remind me that if I work with integrity and dedication, my efforts will pay off in the end. It’s about trusting the process and knowing that perseverance brings success, even if the journey is tough.
Tell us something interesting about you, about your journey.
An interesting highlight from my journey in the MLSA program is that I had the incredible opportunity to be featured in the Welcome Sizzle Reel of the Microsoft Student Summit 2023.
