Building with AI for Global Impact
On September 12, 2024, the Ambassadors Projects Demo Day was held virtually on Teams, uniting emerging developers from around the globe to present pioneering AI-driven solutions for real-world challenges.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the Gold leads Eman Amjad, Midhuna Mohanraj, Muhammad Suzrail Shah Zakriya, and Niyoj Ali for their hard work and dedication in putting together such an amazing event and leading this past cycle of the projects program. Without their tireless efforts, this event would not have been possible. In addition, we would like to thank our Gold milestone judges, Mudassir Murtaza, Hamna Khalil, and Meerali Naseet.
Congratulations to the Winning Team: Team DeepShield
The winning team was Team DeepShield, led by Ambassadors Saksham Kumar and Rhythm Narang. Their project, Deep Fake Analysis, was chosen as the winner because of its innovative approach to solving a real-world problem. The project comprises a detection model trained using 1.9 million images from the Open Forensics Dataset to detect deepfake/real photos. The model is trained over the Vision Transformer Model, tuned using the Open Forensics dataset, and uploaded to Hugging Face Models. The model is deployed for end-users using a Django-based web application.
Finalists and Their Outstanding Projects:
The final round featured impressive contributions from the following teams:
Catalyst: Sreya E P (L) and Sayanti Chowdhury, of team Catalyst worked on Deepfake Detection. This project aims to develop a comprehensive system using machine learning and computer vision techniques to detect deepfakes in images, videos, and audio files, helping to identify and prevent the spread of misinformation. The system utilizes convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for image detection, a combination of CNNs and recurrent neural networks (RNNs) for video detection, leveraging transformers and machine learning algorithms for audio detection. With a user-friendly interface for uploading files and receiving detection results, this project seeks to achieve high accuracy in detecting deepfakes, develop a real-time detection system, and educate users about deepfakes and their detection.
BrainPhoto: Jaures Beinjamin FOTSING (L), Ridwan Abdurahman and Hasan Jehangir, from team BrainPhoto worked on CleanCapture, an innovative web application designed to address the critical global challenge of waste management by using advanced technology to identify, classify, and manage waste more effectively. The app was built using the following technology stack: Azure Custom Vision, Azure OpenAI, Azure Web App Service, and Streamlit framework
Digital Diplomat: Mayur C of team Digital Diplomat worked on a project that focuses on performing Market Basket Analysis using the Apriori algorithm, integrated with a robust Azure-based data engineering pipeline. The process involves ingesting and storing retail transaction data in Azure Data Lake, transforming it using Azure Databricks, and conducting advanced analytics in Google Colab. The project aims to uncover hidden purchasing patterns, offering actionable insights for retail strategy optimization. The solution leverages cloud scalability and cross-platform integration to handle large datasets efficiently.
StarLabs: Damilare AKINYEMI (L), Taiwo OMOYENI, Emmanuel OMOLAJA and Jessica ESCOBEDO from team StarLabs worked on MLSA LearnBot. It is an Intelligent Chatbot (Question-and-Answer) app designed specifically for Student Ambassadors to leverage cutting-edge AI and ensure that finding help and information is as seamless and efficient as possible.
Each team demonstrated a commitment to solving significant challenges through AI. Overall, this cycle of Ambassador Projects was a huge success. This Ambassador Projects cycle highlighted the transformative potential of AI as developers from around the world came together to tackle complex issues. We look forward to seeing the continued growth and innovation these talented individuals will bring to the field.
