Improved Copilot experiences for commercial organizations

Today, we're announcing that Microsoft Copilot experiences are evolving to better serve the needs of commercial organizations. These changes are designed to empower all users and organizations—no matter where they are in their AI journey—so that they can enhance productivity and make the most out of their workday.

What's new?

For commercial customers with users signing in with a Microsoft Entra account, the following changes will be made:

• Microsoft Copilot for users with a Microsoft Entra account is now Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. We will continue to offer enterprise data protection (EDP) for users signed in with a Microsoft Entra account. This remains a separate offering from the paid add-on Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
• Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat adds pay-as-you-go agents to our existing free chat experience. People can easily create agents to automate repetitive tasks and business processes—directly in Copilot Chat. Agents are priced on a metered basis, and IT stays in control.
• The Microsoft 365 app is now the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, and its app naming and icon have been updated to reflect this.

Information for IT

No action is required from IT. Changes are automatically applied and will begin rolling out on January 15, 2025. The update will happen independently and is not tied to an Office or Windows update. If a user is signed in and still not seeing the change, make sure to connect to the internet and then restart the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.

As shared before, we recommend IT admins pin Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat to the navigation bar in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, Teams, and Outlook and pin the Microsoft 365 Copilot app to the Windows taskbar. This makes Microsoft 365 Copilot easily accessible directly from the Windows desktop.
