John Wilcox @Thanks, oh what I meant was that the entire store environment is unstable on every single consumer Windows 10/11 PC I have used. But not on LTSC, no trouble there whatsoever.
What I like about LTSC, is that the store environment is stable on this platform. As are the automatic updates. As a matter of fact I have a script that I found that totally shuts off defender and auto updates. I don’t like defender at all, I have my own AV which is pretty solid and does not require constant updates and tweaking. So I disable Defender and Edge Smartscreen, but I’ll use SmartScreen if I’m on questionable websites with #SpamAds. Or, sites with security issues.
I shut off auto updates only when I have a long running project. Usually I keep ‘em on and I check once a month, unless I hear about a desired update. And then I run it several times to make sure I get everything.
I find the whole LTSC environment way more stable. I don’t know why, if you say it’s mounted on the same framework as Home/Pro. I loathe Home because I need access to the Group Policy Editor constantly. Home networking has also been easier on all pro systems going back all the way to XP… and Win 2K…
I have LTSC installed on a Big Mac Pro 5,1 box with two 6 core Xeons. 6 core, 12 threads, times two is 24 threads and lots of power. BUT… it still takes up to 6 minutes to boot. It may be the Bootcamp environment. But the system is way more dependable than all of my other PCs and laptops.
In fact I have a very rapid Lenovo t420 Thinkpad, 8 gb/i5 with SATA III, and an ADATA 512 gb 3D NAND SSD. It benches fast. THIS was the w10 Pro system where I had much trouble with the Store. No problems with AutoUpdates though. Finally I got it updated to 21H2. I think that is the release. And the store got fixed.
It will not allow me to get Windows 11 though, ☹️
Thanks.
