We all know that there is a small percentage who still run Windows 7 for fun but doubt they use it on-line. A lot of older people though use Windows 10 now because they have been told now for years to do more things on-line. Ordering med's, on-line banking, making claims for social service help, etc. A lot had to order food during the pandemic and lock-downs.
I have talked to a lot of older people who have 5-10 year old PCs that they can't upgrade now to Windows 11. They also can't afford to but a new PC with the cost of living still going through the proverbial roof.
But what do Microsoft do! Say to many millions Windows 10 won't get support after 2025 and if you can't buy a new PC sorry but using it after will be very risky. Hence why I am annoyed with Microsoft!
They could drop the stricter limits they have set for Windows 11. Many older but good PCs can run Windows 11. I see them being sold all the time now s/hand where past owners have used tweaks to unofficially run Windows 11. So Microsoft make it official that those older PC's can use Windows 11.
I doubt they will because with each new PC that's sold they get a cut on the sale for the OS on it. They don't care now about the average user who struggles these days to afford the next meal. We are in a 'heat or eat' era and unlikely to get out of that for a while. .
So will computerdave911 advise some pensioner or low income family to use Windows 10 without security updates after October 2025? I tell those I know to be cautious after October 2025 and then switch to Linus or Ubuntu.....
