Prompt to save changes in Word
I have recently set up a new laptop. When I close Word documents, I no longer get a dialogue box asking me if I want to save changes to the document. The changes are saved automatically. 95% of the time, that is fine: usually I of course want to save the changes that I have made. But sometimes I play around with a document, and then decide that I preferred it as it was. So it is useful to be able to choose to NOT save changes. But I can't work out how to reactivate the dialogue box. I don't know whether it is an option that no longer exists, or whether I perhaps inadvertently did something while setting up the new laptop that has disabled the option. Can anyone help?timinbruMar 12, 2025Copper Contributor9KViews0likes8CommentsCustom Bullets For Checklist
I've created a checklist in Word that is currently using an image as a bullet for a bulleted list. I would like to re-create the Pass/Fail bullet in Word using text so that when I create a PDF document from the Word file it will create checkboxes in Adobe Acrobat. Acrobat does not recognize either the boxes or the text when using an image. Is this possible in Word? Here is an example of my checklist and how it want it to look:srobinettMar 11, 2025Copper Contributor41Views0likes2CommentsFormatting text in Controls filled by PowerAutomate
Hi. I've got a Word document template filled with SharePoint Lists data after running a PowerAutomate flow. There is some content that I need to be presented in the document as a numbered list, which I already know doesn't happen in the flow (unfortunately), so I've been trying this directly in Word, without success. I've tried two things: 1) Leaving the number placed in the template, hoping that it could follow on after a line break (what didn't happen). Before: After: 2) Removing the numbering and setting it's paragraph settings to the ruler and then inserting the numbering on the List. Before: After: And what i need is: 2. ANÁLISE 2.1. Identificou-se que (…) 2.2. Etcetcetct (…) Does anybody know how I can achieve that? I thought about posting it on the PowerAutomate forums, but since the flow itself works as it should, I concluded that I should try asking here first. Thank you in advance!williamazevedo2210Mar 11, 2025Copper Contributor113Views0likes4CommentsHarvard Referencing Style missing from Word 2019
Hi there, I am having an issue with the Referencing options on Word 2019. Harvard referencing was available on my styles dropdown last time I needed it - about a year ago. It has now disappeared from the option list. MLA and APA are available but not Harvard When I opened a document that I had written when Harvard was an available option, I clicked on my references list and got an error that said 'You do not have the bibliography style that is currently being used in this document. Completing this action will reformat the bibliography and citations to your default bibliography style.; When I look in C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style the Harvard XSL Stylesheet is there under HarvardAnglia2008OfficeOnline When I open the Stylesheet online I am shown this: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. In the Word title bar where the filename is shown, Office 365 Word has very recently stopped saying if the file is "saved" or "saved to pc". This feature seems to still exist in Excel.- see screenshots. . This is a very useful feature. In the version 2408 release notes for August 26 (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/officeupdates/current-channel#word) it says "We fixed an issue where a document displayed as saved instead of working offline." I wonder if this "fix" is the culprit! Please can we have the information in the title bar about whether the file is saved or not back. I have a document with some lines that contain a string, say <astring>. I would like to have a macro that would parse the document, and create a new document that only contains the lines that have <astring> in it. Hi all, I have a Word document which uses the Readex Pro family of fonts: https://github.com/ThomasJockin/readexpro I have all fonts installed locally and when I view it in Word, it appears as rendered: the main font used is Readex Pro Deca Light, while headings used Readex Pro Deca SemiBold. However, when I use "Save a Copy > PDF" in Word, everything is rendered as Readex Pro Deca Light. (That happens with the "Bitmap text..." in the options either on or off. If I use Print > Print to PDF, the headings are rendered in the right font. But of course I don't get features that way such as a left-hand navigation pane of headings in the resulting PDF. Does anyone know why Microsoft Word's "Save a Copy > PDF" seems not to use font families correctly? Is there a workaround here?PaulMoloneyMar 08, 2025Copper Contributor11Views1like0CommentsText and images shifting
Hello, I am fairly new at using Word for the most part. We use Word 2013. I find that when I create my document, saving it as I go. I then close the document and then when I open later on, sometimes there are large blank areas and all my text and images have shifted. What would cause this type of behavior? I did create a template and use that for my documents. I use a lot of text boxes as labels. I have attached a sample below. I actually create these in Solidworks but have to add the text in Word using text boxes.kpinksMar 08, 2025Copper Contributor67Views0likes4CommentsTable of contents different colors for headings number
Hi, I am using Office 365 on a WIN 11 computer. I received a project where the number of heading 2 had a different color than the rest of the headings. The document was translated into another language. The agency asked me to review the translated file and update the TOC. All was fine until I updated the TOC and I noticed that all numbers before each heading were black. I started checking the styles set in the source file for any possible mismatch with the translated file. They were identical. Still, when I was updating the translated file those numbers were still black. Therefore, I updated the TOC of the source document and it resulted in the numbers being black as in the translated file. Bottom line, I manually changed the colors of numbers for TOC02. I found it very frustrating. What was I doing wrong? What had I missed? I have been working for years with MS Word. I had never been asked to make numbers in TOC different from one level to another. Is it possible? Thank you, SebastianSolvedSEBA_ROMar 04, 2025Copper Contributor40Views0likes4CommentsWord Online is the worst program I have ever used.
I understand that this is a free software, but the fact that I can't align two images next to each other at the same height is so bafflingly moronic it almost brings me to tears. Can you please remove this software offering and strop tricking people in to believing that this is a useable product. Microsoft sucks. We'll see how long this post lasts on the forum.WLCMar 04, 2025Copper Contributor57Views0likes2Comments
