Archiving Teams channels?
Hi,
I found this from MS
https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/office/archivieren-oder-wiederherstellen-eines-kanals-53c46491-a265-4391-a2a7-001c5026c9e5
But settings are not available as described in that article. Any ideas how I would be able to archive channels within MS Teams?
Worth to try this:
- Open Microsoft Teams: Go to the Teams desktop app or Teams on the web.
- Navigate to the Team: Find the team that contains the channel you want to archive.
- Select the Channel: Click on the channel name to open it.
- More Options: Click on the three dots (More options) next to the channel name.
- Archive Channel: Select "Archive channel" from the dropdown menu.
- Confirmation: A confirmation prompt will appear. Click "Archive" to confirm.

The option should still be there, but is only available for Team owners (and channel owners for private/shared channels). You cannot archive the General channel, so the option will be missing under the ... menu for it. Also, I don't believe this functionality is available for Teams "free", if that's what you are using.
