Migrate VMs to Azure (Stack HCI)
Hi.
I know this is a bit out of scope, but since Azure Stack HCI is still under the Azure programme, I ask it anyways.
Would it be possible to extend the functionality of Azure Migrate to use an Azure Stack HCI cluster as destination for the VMs to migrate?
Thanks and regards,
Anders

SeanJaz we are currently using your product and appreciate that your tool is the best option for us to migrate our vmware workloads to Stack HCI, unfortunately we are having several limitations which are limited to the product and as well as the HCI, few examples as below;
1. Windows 2kR2 not 100% supported.
2. LINUX & Cent OS not supported.
3. FCI / ISCSI limitation for shared disk.
4. DMZ servers not fully a robust, need lot of manual intervention.
5. Desktop VM's not supported.
6. Too many prerequisites related to the ADMIN$ share, access to MaaS URL, Port opening, UAC etc, which is not possible in secured environments.
7. The tool does a DISK conversion, and unable to resize the HDD to actual used data.
There are few more in my list, and if these are rectified the product will stand tall and unbeatable in the enterprise market and especially with lot of legacy dependent application owners like us. 🙂

We will have an update on this at Microsoft Ignite conference in October. Currently you can utilize SCVMM or our backup partners’ utility applications you can find this list in here https://learn.microsoft.com/azure-stack/hci/concepts/utility-applications
- andreshidalgomoraCopper ContributorI need to do this ASAP, is there any way? MOVERE? Azure migrate tool? I need to migrate VMs from VMware to Azure HCI does ANYBODY knows how to do it?
rahulg1190 any updates?
thanks in advanceyou should consider to use your backup / DR application for the migration.
Some of I know can backup vmWare / Hyper-V VMs and restore them as either VM.
This way it should be possible to backup your VMs and restore them as Hyper-V VMs onto Azure Stack HCI. DR solution examples: Veeam, CommVault.
