I note the OneDrive release notes currently show 24.226.1110.0004 (December 9, 2024) as the current version. It calls out:
- Resolved issue causing File Explorer slowness, especially in VDI environments where many sessions share the same host.

Have anyone tested this version and is it working?

I'm looking at a patched environment right now. The delay in browsing folders and opening files is markedly improved.
Prior to patching, double-clicking on a folder in Explorer would pause with the mouse icon depicting a wheel icon spinning for 2-3 revolutions. Post patching, the same action shows the wheel icon spinning only maybe half a revolution.

Unfortunately it will never be completely fluid, if you have few librairies synchronized (maybe 3 or 4) creating as many entries in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\SyncRootManager\
If I understand correctly, there was an issue in previous OneDrive versions, where entries were not removed under SyncRootManager when removing a user, leading to a lot of entries in SyncRootManager in an AVD environnement and slowing down OneDrive.
Now OneDrive should purge SyncRootManager, but there is a deeper issue where file browsing is slow anyway with few entries in SyncRootManager. And it affects any Windows 11 physical or virtual workstation.
The only efficient workaround to me currently is to change the authorizations on Microsoft.OneDriveSync_xxx_neutral_8wekyb3d8bbw key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PackagedCom\Package\
You will lose the OneDrive contextual menu but get instant navigation in the Explorer. It is crazy that this issue is still going on for years with no fix.

Gonna give that a try because this is frustrating me for years now.
There was a time the contextual menu took 40 seconds to display (PC not AVD).
Still today it's hundreds of time a day waiting a few seconds for creating a folder, browsing and contextual menu. Incredibly annoying.
