Excel not working properly since updating to Windows 11
Hi,
Since I have updated my PC to windows 11 Excel has not been working properly. Every 5 min the sheets seem to be unresponsive when I click on a tab or anywhere on the excel page. To make it work again I have to constantly reduce the window and reopen it. This is very frustrating as it happens very often. I have tried to start excel in safe mode or disable add-ins but the bug continues.
Thank you

I got the same problem
And in my case, it was due to an add-in that was carried over from the old office.
So, to whoever getting the same problem, you should try disabling add-in (both Excel and COM add-ins) to rule out which one is causing the problem.
- Bill1435Copper ContributorI have the same exact problem. Just started after the latest Windows 11 update (10/12/22).

It is unacceptable for bug of this magnitude and prominence to continue over a year without resolution. Doesn't MS understand that we will not upgrade to newer versions in the future in event we some day get this resolved? Since the latest Windows version comes on all new devices, there will be incredible skepticism about buying new laptops, etc. Does anyone at MS read this stuff and do they care about their users?
- DerflawCopper ContributorYes you will upgrade because they'll cram it down your throat like they did Win 8, which was just as huge a piece of crap as Win ME, which they crammed down everyone's throat. No, they don't care. All they care about is their bottom line, which isn't shrinking fast enough for them to do anything about it.
- Ndevlin23Copper Contributori don’t think they care
- Ndevlin23Copper Contributori found this article - haven’t tried any of this yet though

Is there any way to bring this to attention at Microsoft? Feels like it's a significant and widespread problem.
- Priya_SidhuCopper ContributorI am also facing same issues. have you find solution to that?
- PDAmanCopper Contributor
I upgraded w11 to the latest 22H2, hoping that the issue is resolved. Unfortunately, nothing has changed.
One thing that I learned is that it is related to the Add-ins in Excel.
1. Dropbox addin causes extremely long delay in opening excel'
2. some addins (e.g. refinitiv datastream) make it worse. When I have enabled this addin when I need it, the problem is really worse. When I disable it, along with all the other addins, it is much less frequent but still there.
So, there still is no solution for me. Since it has been 12 months since this problem surfaced and reported, many updates of W11 and office 365 came, but the problem persisits. So, I am not hopeful that Microsoft will fix it.
- hank01Copper ContributorI know 20+ coworkers with the same issue. Hoping Microsoft can fix this issue soon.

I'm also experiencing the same problem. DOESN'T ANYBODY AT MICROSOFT SUPPORT THEIR PRODUCTS ANYMORE??????

Nine months later and this is STILL not fixed. I make my living with Excel and there are days when the inability to select cells or do anything in Excel is infuriating. MICROSOFT this is YOUR product, please fix this. Having a lovely Windows interface (arguable) and software that doesn't work is not a good mix.

I have similar problems.
My MS Access databases are all but useless using win11 and office pro plus 2021
I suspect the problem arises from VBA, all my dbases are written in VBA and they suffer enormouslyI have some little vba code in the excel files and although they have problems, not so much as the databases.
Maybe someone can check out this theory
Cheers

- Santero10Copper ContributorHi Stylo9,
I don't think it is a VBA problem as I don't have any. The problem seems to come from Nvidia's graphic card and Windows 11. Unfortunately, I think that only Microsoft is able to repair it but they haven't even acknowledged the issue after nearly 1 year of complaints. This is baffling as Excel is a working tool for many of us and sometimes is borderline unusable.
I don't know how to make them notice, but if somebody does, feel free to help as it seems to be the only way to fix this.

I do simple VBA Excel programming.
Since installation of Windows 11 the message box I add typically for troubleshooting pops up as a transparent display box.
The useless thing will park its carcass on the screen for 15 seconds and more. Eventually, after a while, before seemingly forever, it may display the message. Or, it may not. At the least, the worksheet cells underneath are viewable but not accessible.
The hourglass will wear out eventually.
There is no Option to turn off graphics acceleration.
My Dell laptop (Tag 1P1LX33) was bought for simple word and worksheet work. So, no special graphics hardware I'm aware of.
Except for the above obnoxious and expensive (my time) bug I have not yet stumbled across any other issues since ill-advisedly "upgrading" from Windows 10.
And, I thought all these Microsoft upgrade screw-ups had disappeared after Windows 3.3!

I also continue to have this issue since Windows 11 update.
Have disabled graphics hardware acceleration, uninstalled, reinstalled, diabled all add-ons.... tried just about everything other than uninstalling and reinstalling Windows 11....This is my work computer and I use excel continuously all day, every day... really with MIcrosoft would solve this issue quickly, or at least provide a reason why its happening so we can further trouble shoot on our end... frustrating....

I also have this issue. My mouse/cursor is basically useless at times. Microsoft still hasn't reacted to this issue? I have a Zenbook 14 Flip OLED, I can't imagine the issue is with the laptop :(.
- JohnBrowning9Copper ContributorI am having the same problem.
Did we ever find out if anyone had an e'fin clue?
Why do they not respond to these issues and at least acknowledge they are happening?- DerflawCopper Contributor
Because it's Microsuck. Their stuff works perfectly every time didn't you know that? Just ask them. Nothing is ever their fault and at some point in the future, some obscured update will be sent without ever having acknowledged there was a problem to begin with. It will just miraculously go away. Probably not until somebody has the money to sue them for the aggravation and down time though. That wouldn't be cost effective. Had no problems on the Win 10 PC with any M365 apps. Was punished with Win 11 for buying a new laptop and now I get to spend a good portion of my workday restarting M365 apps. Can't afford a Mac or I'd abandon Microsuck altogether.
