Hi, this is annoying me too. A quick way to get "back to normal" is to press:
(1) Scroll Lock (2) Up Arrow (3) Scroll Lock (4) Down Arrow
This can be done really quickly but this doesn't permanently fix the issue obviously.

This helped fix my issue of not being able to edit Series Names and values from charts.It's like entering a nintendo code!
- Thanks for the information. I use the laptop's keyboard with a marble mouse, with two external monitors. I still find the easiest way to temporarily undo this disgraceful bug is to quickly scroll the touchpad up and down a few times.
MICROSOFT: We've been asked to submit the issue to the Feedback Hub, which it has been, a long, long time ago. What are you doing about this disgusting service level?- I'm encountering the same issues and have tried the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Pressing Scroll Lock, followed by the Up arrow, Scroll Lock, and then the Down arrow keys.
2. Recreating the spreadsheets in a new workbook.
3. Changing the default printer.
4. Adjusting mouse scrolling settings.
I am currently using two screens, extended, and a wireless ET mouse. The issue seems to occur only after working in it.
We have an active Office 365 subscription. This problem is particularly frustrating because I'm currently working on a time-sensitive document, and I'm unable to click or select cells properly.
This issue isn't isolated to me; one other person in our office has experienced similar problems, while everyone else hasn't. However, I use the Office suite more frequently than anyone else here.
- Thanks for the suggestion. I have my own 'fix', not sure if it works for everyone, but when the issue happens I simply scroll up/down using touchpad swipe. Doing it quite widely and rapidly a few times seems to 'shake' it back to normal, as utterly ridiculous as this is.
- This works for me to fix the issue temporarily.
If the cell selection issue happens, use the two-finger swipe on the trackpad - either from left to right, or from top to bottom, and let go.
This is not a permanent fix but it will take care of the issue without having to close and reopen the file.Hi all, reading this thread. I remember having the same issue many years ago with an older version of Excel (I want to say Excel 2010 or possibly even earlier than that), also using the trick of switching to another sheet in the same document and back again, and it was eventually fixed by Microsoft without me having to change laptops or anything. So surely someone at Microsoft has access to a knowledge database where the fix was documented?
Anyhoo, I want to share that I also started experiencing this issue with Excel 365. Up until yesterday, I was using Excel 365 on a laptop operating Windows 10. I had no such issue with my spreadsheet in Windows 10.
Yesterday, my Windows 10 laptop died, and so I switched to a new laptop running Windows 11. I am using the same spreadsheet that I had saved to an external drive right before my laptop died and that I moved to my Windows 11 laptop. I do NOT have a touchscreen on either laptops, or an external mouse, or a second monitor. The printer connected is the exact same printer on both laptops.
Besides the difference in iOS, this Windows 11 laptop has a much worse resolution than my Windows 10 laptop. They're both HP laptops. Not sure why the resolution might be a factor but I think I saw this mentioned as a possible cause in one of the replies.
So I hope this will help winnow down the possible reasons for this, as people are driven nuts trying to figure what, in their setup, might be causing the problem. Personally, I think it has to do with Windows 11 being a **bleep** OS and Excel 365 not playing well with it (or vice versa). I feel like I've taken a giant step back into the 20th century, personally.
