It's implemented in VirtoCalendar. The release is coming in January 2024 (at least we planned). You can finally manage and use this simple and valuable feature for your groups.
Hi SergiVirto, Its now April 2024 and it appears Microsoft has failed to regain basic calendar function over a 5 year time span. Can anyone explain this???

SergiVirtoI'm not sure I understand. When viewing the Group Calendar (Created through sharepoint) It only gives me the options to choose the default colors. If I create a category through my personal inbox (app) it defaults that category to grey when viewing online (in the group calendar). In the image below it shows that I am unable to add a new category.
This is how categories look in VirtoCalendar, where you can manage "unmanageable" Outlook Group categories.
