In the April 2017 Insider Update I read about easy access to Group files: Quickly access your sites and groupsUse the File menu to work with documents, workbooks, and presentations, and stored in your frequently used sites and groups. Now, I am on insider releases, both for Office desktop apps and Office 365 backend. But I don't see group files in my Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It's july, so I start to wonder if I'm missing something. Do I need to turn something on, change a setting? Do some active stuff in my groups to make this visible? What I see is a long list of yellow folders from my SharePoint, grouped by "Last Week" and "older".

I'm on the 1706 (June) Current Channel release and this isn't there either. I've been waiting ages for this :)

That is weird - I can't find any trace of it, either... and I'm already on a newer version of Office, First Release in my tenant, etc... I'm going to ask around and see if I can find out where it disappeared to! I'd love to see that feature actually show up - especially as I'm trying to drive Teams and Groups adoption in my company.

Funny... for a feature I hadn't even realized was coming, I'm now wondering how I've ever lived without this! :P Interestingly enough, I just installed Version 1707 (Build 8319.1000) on the Office Insider Fast ring, and it's not there either - I'll update once I find out more about where it's disappeared to.

Nope, still nothing :( I just updated to Version 1710 (Build 8625.2127), and there's no changes - nobody has been giving me any answers on this one either, just dead silence.

Guess what! Today I got a great Christmas present: I'm seeing Groups in my Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications!

But... unfortunately there is a small catch... I noticed it AFTER I reinstalled both of my PC's... And I changed the way I install the Office application. Normally (the previous times) I use the Office deployment tool to install the apps or I go to the Office 365 Portal.

This time I used Intune to install parts of my computer. After setting up Windows AutoPilot I did a refresh. The last step of AutoPilot is enrollment in Intune. In Intune I created an app deployment of several Windows store apps (via Business Store) and the Office applications. This worked great!

So.... at this point I can't really tell what triggered the Groups in my Office apps.... could be coincedence or Intune uses another release?

I'm now on Version 1712 (Build 8827.2082), Monthly Channel (targeted)

  I just updated to 1712 (Build 8827.2117), and while I don't have a Teams section which I would have liked to see, but I can see the the Teams sites under my Frequent sites. I think it's safe to say that installing through Intune is not a requirement (thankfully)!
  
  I did need to open a document from in Teams before it would make the connection, but it makes sense if it's putting the link under Frequent Sites :D

Updated to build 1707 (8326.2033) yesterday. Still don't see an easy way to access my groupfiles, don't see the interface from the support article.

    Do you see your groups in the Office desktop apps? I still see just the yellow folders (of the SharePoint teamsites) :-(
