Logs of Microsoft 365 Copilot
Hi all, May I know whether Microsoft 365 Copilot (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, ...) maintains some local logs of user activities, or questions submitted? If so, where can I find them (Windows/Mac)...

Hi Pengfei_Wang,
Microsoft 365 Copilot maintains logs of user activities and interactions for auditing and service improvement purposes, but these logs are typically not accessible to end users.
Administrators can review user activities by accessing the audit log in the compliance portal. This provides insights into various activities, including user interactions with Copilot.

From user's perspective, now end-users can find chat history and interactions within (Word, PowerPoint etc.) using Chat History for those documents. Please find attached screenshot for reference;
For Copilot in Windows, end-user's can find their interactions from the highlighted icon only when they toggle on Work. Because no logs are captured for Copilot in Web..
From Administrator perspective, they can review audit logs using Audit log activities | Microsoft Learn whereas to access the text from the user's prompt during the interaction find using Overview of Content search | Microsoft Learn

Thank you for the update.
May I know whether these logs are stored locally, or they are fetched from the server and are memory-only?

Pengfei_Wang Behind the scenes, Exchange mailboxes are used to store data copied from these messages. Data from Copilot messages is stored in a hidden folder in the mailbox of the user who runs Copilot. This hidden folder isn't designed to be directly accessible to users or administrators, but instead, store data that compliance administrators can search with eDiscovery tools.
