Updated Copilot app doesn't work with Work account
There was an update to the Copilot app on Oct 3, 2024 (1.0.4.0), and now the app is acting weird on my Copilot+PC work laptop.
I press the dedicated Copilot button and expect to have Copilot open from the right. Instead I get a centered screen (which by the way is this address: https://copilot.microsoft.com/?dpwa=1 ) telling me "It looks like you're signed in with your work account. The Copilot experience for work is now at copilot.cloud.microsoft." There is also a button "Go to Copilot for work" which goes to this address
https://copilot.cloud.microsoft/?fromCode=pwa, but funny enough, it doesn't redirect within the window but instead opens the address in the Edge browser!? 🤷:male_sign:
In comparison opening https://copilot.microsoft.com/ in the browser navigates directly to the new address for the Copilot experience for work, no issues.
Why doesn't the app just redirect directly to the new address for work accounts so I can use the Copilot button as intended?
Thanks!

It's even worse now - the M365 Copilot button doesnt even let you login. Just pops up and goes away. I do not understand why Microsoft is tossing away all of the "Office" and going full in on Copilot. Office works. Copilot is a joke right now and will absolutely turn people off and onto other platforms.

There is a new Copilot app that breaks the workaround mentioned before:
Microsoft Copilot finally becomes a native Windows app. What does this mean for users?
It asks you whether you want to go to the copilot.cloud.microsoft website, or login with personal account on your work laptop to use the app!? - AshleyG395Copper ContributorUghhh I'm glad that I'm not the only one, I was going insane

If we're talking about Copilot "Business Chat" then yes, I'm seeing the same thing. Also this new version is very crippled.
I sent this complaint to Microsoft via the feedback button:
"I hate the new UX for Copilot: What used to be a standalone app at https://copilot.microsoft.com is now redirected to https://copilot.cloud.microsoft/. There is no way to change it back. IT IS NOT AN IMPROVEMENT. You removed the Notebook feature, which I use a lot. You changed the green "shield" icon, which I had been training my users to recognize as a "safe" version of Copilot (vs. the Public version, which exposes their data). You added a history bar to their chat, something I had assured the security people at my company would not be tracked. Each session is supposed to "forget" past conversations. Note, we are using the Copilot that is included with the E3 license, not the standalone M365 Copilot. This new UX is a step down. I may have clicked on "Pin Copilot" without realizing what would change. Please provide a way to change it back."
I also left this complaint:
- Removal of the Notebook feature, which I use often.
- The prompt box no longer accepts pasting in a screenshot. I cannot upload images, either. I guess AI Vision has been removed from the product? This was super useful for pasting in error dialogs and screenshots so Copilot could help me translate. Why was it removed?
- The "shield" is no longer green (I had been training my users to look for a green shield so they will know they are using a "safe" version of Copilot vs the public version).
- It appears that conversation history has been added, something that we do not want, we were told that conversations would not be stored by Microsoft. Does this mean you're training on our data, too?
- No clear warning that this was coming, no preview of the UX, no explanation of changes anywhere I've looked.
- There appears to be no way to change it back.
- We are using the "BizChat" copilot that comes with E3 only, not the standalone M365 copilot.
What's kind of maddening is that I just watched the latest "Copilot Wave 2" announcement where Jared Spataro is demonstrating Copilot Pages (https://youtu.be/Gz0jPfCuvsM?si=DcqI_hlaHS2hMhSP&t=250), and the UI in his browser is the old one. Grrr!

Thanks for sharing. I'm facing the same kind of issue(s) with my end-users + I discovered that our Ubuntu/Linux users can no longer use the service on the web, no matter the browser installed. It becomes very frustrating!

PoorTatey I think you're mixing a lot of topics but thanks for referencing that announcement from Microsoft! I totally missed it! I'm talking about Microsoft 365 subscriber without Copilot. But I think in any case the Copilot app is broken currently and the Copilot key on my laptop keyboard serves little purpose as I want to use the work version and not have the personal one.
As for your issues with access to Copilot Pages, as per this post:
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-copilot/announcing-copilot-pages-for-multiplayer-collaboration/ba-p/4242701
"Copilot Pages starts rolling out today for Microsoft 365 Copilot users and soon for all other Microsoft 365 subscribers."- headbatCopper Contributor
I faced wih the same situation. Solution for me is open copilot by the Edge browser, next open edge menu and select section "Apps" -> install this site as an app. You will see a familiour ui Copilot.
Hope it will helps you too.
