Camera goes black in zoom meetings

Hi all,

I tried to search but could not find anything. We are using Teams Rooms with zoom enabled on them. When we start the meetings it goes all good, but after some time, the camera just goes black.

Sometimes, the participants cameras also go black.

This has been happening for some time now and zoom is been quite useless, have anyone else had this issue?

We are running the latest 4.10.10.0.

We are seeing this issue in two rooms - one with Logitech Rally Bar + NUC and the second with Rally Camera/Speaker + NUC. We can reproduce it in both rooms where the incoming video feeds go blank and nothing except leaving and re-joining resolves the issue.

Only common factor here is the NUC. Has anyone experienced this running in Appliance mode?

A reddit post reports this issue within the last 3 months with the desktop client, however they have a solution of unchecking an advanced setting both called "optimise video I receive" which we don't have access to with the web app.

Has anyone made contact with Microsoft or Logitech about this one? I suspect this is something Zoom will have to fix

jeffcarras We have seen the same thing a few times now. It's not every meeting (only the important ones) where the audio keeps working and the screen layout and functions are fine, but all participant feeds and the local video feed go blank. A user can be in the same room, on the same network, and join the call from Zoom and all of the other participants and video and everything is there, same for remote participants, it only seems to be happening in the room.  If you get it figured out, let me know.

    • Maybe try changing the delay time the displays go to sleep in the Windows settings. By default it is a few minutes. Change it to say 2 hours. Might be related to the other issues seen

TheGrahamWalsh the issues is with the participants and local motion video. The screen is fine, the participants are still in the call, etc. Ending the call and re-joining restores the video. I'm not going to pretend to know what is actually happening, but it looks almost like the motion video CODEC in the embedded browser stops rendering. Please see the photo as it is worth 1000 words that I don't want to write...

  • What happens when you stop/start the camera? Does it reactivate the stream? I'd get a ticket open with your OEM to troubleshoot and also open a case with MSFT.

A good test would be to try it from the admin desktop side, join a zoom meeting via webrtc and see if the same thing happens.

      Hi Graham

Restarting the camera does nothing. To make it work again need to leave the session and re-join.
