Shouldn't my status be available unless I joined the meeting?

I have a 2 hour daily recurring meeting and most of time I don't attend it. Yet my status shows as busy (red) to everyone for the full 2 hours everyday. Is there a setting to show I am available unless I joined the meeting?

If it's not available, I suggest that this be a feature or a user setting.

  • Not every meeting happens online, or in Teams for that matter. There is no reliable way for the service to know whether you are actually in the meeting, thus whether you've joined via Teams or not is not taken into consideration.

    If you don't want to be shown as busy, you can simply adjust the status on the event/series (go to Calendar > select or double-click the event > under "Show as", select "Free" or any other non-Busy status).
