Teams calling - contact information
Hello.
We have recently switched to Microsoft Teams as our Telephony solution.
While using the windows 10 client, we have noticed when a user is receiving an incoming call from a contact held within their teams 'contacts' list, you can only see the phone number rather than the 'display name'. This is rather frustrating for the user as they are keen to understand who is calling before choosing to accept the call.
I have noticed via testing that this all works as expected in the teams web app, it is just within the windows client that the issue is present. We have tried all the basic troubleshooting, signing in and out of windows app etc to no avail.
Any response or assistance is greatly appreciated.
James
- Here we go
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/how-can-caller-id-be-used-in-your-organization
Phone System will show the incoming external phone number as the caller ID. If the number is associated with a user or contact in Azure AD or a personal contact, the Skype for Business and Teams clients will show the caller ID based on that information. If the phone number is not in Azure AD or a personal contact, the telco-provided display name will be shown if it is available
So by definition that means it should show given you have them as contacts in teams. You could always test to see if that changes if you add them as a guest so then they would specifically be in Azure AD, however the recommendation here is to open a ticket with support since as it works in the web app experience, it would posit there is some issue with the desktop client.
Hope that answers your question
Best, Chris
