Legacy silver benefits end date ?
Hello,
We renewed our Silver Benefits, now called Legacy Silver Benefits, in January 2023 and we are (were?) very satisfied with this program.
Our company cannot complete the requirements needed by the new Solutions Partner designation and it won't be possible in the future for some reasons.
We would like to continue with he Legacy Silver program but, so far, no end date was communicated about it. Would it be possible to renew again in 2024, 2025, 2026, etc?
This is very important for us and we would like to have a status about this from Microsoft because I don't find anything so far.
Regards
This has been asked quite a few times and I know was covered pretty comprehensively in the old version of these forums which I don't know if they are accessible any longer. Here's what I found:
In short, the official documentation does not give a timeline for the retirement of legacy benefits.
One of the moderators might be able to find one of the older threads that was conclusive on this topic.

Hi MrMVDT update on this Topic:
There is now an end date until when the legacy benefits can be renewed:
Source:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/announcements/2024-august#monthly-microsoft-ai-cloud-partner- program-updateMicrosoft Action Pack, Learning Action Pack, Legacy Silver, Legacy Gold benefits transition:
As part of this transition, Microsoft will no longer sell the Microsoft Action Pack, Learning Action Pack, and legacy silver/gold benefits on January 22, 2025 . Partners with existing benefits can renew them until January 21, 2025, and keep them until they expire one year later. To continue receiving benefits, partners are encouraged to purchase new partner benefits packages or achieve Solutions Partner designations. These new offerings are designed to help meet business goals and provide more robust support compared to the legacy benefits. To learn more, see Services Partner.
- MrMVDTBrass ContributorWhat a... bad news 😞
I knew it would happen but I tought it would be mid 2025 / early 2026.
Thank you for the update ! - MartijnElfersSteel ContributorThe end is near! 😛

Hello, since some time has passed and we are in the year 2024,
I am interested in how things turned out with the extension of the Gold/Silver partnership.
Is it still possible to extend it in 2024? Thank you for your response.
- MartijnElfersSteel ContributorAs shared jcvst earlier; "Currently, there's no plan to discontinue renewals of the Silver or Gold membership (provided you held it as of 30 September 2022)."

I have renewed our Legacy Silver and Microsoft happily collected payment, but the Cloud benefits including Office 365 E3 and all the useful ones are no longer available to us.
I'm trying to contact Microsoft (proves diffficult so far) to clarify what's going on.
- MrMVDTBrass ContributorNo issue to renew the Legacy Silver/Gold partners in 2024. You can do it as usual.
As fair as I know, there is no end date so far for these partnerships. - cdantiagsBrass ContributorI could renew the benefits without problems. You should contact support from the Partner Dashboard.

Hi MrMVDT,
It's great that you've enjoyed the Legacy Silver Benefits program. Currently, your company can renew a Solutions Partner designation in Partner Center. You need to meet the Solutions area performance, skilling and customer success requirements and pay the annual fee within the renewal window to retain Solutions Partner designation status and access to associated benefits - Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program benefits FAQ - Partner Center | Microsoft Learn
Unfortunately, I cannot predict the future of this program, but you can always check your status.
Also, as long as you have access to this community, we're here to provide you with the current status of the program!

- fel_manCopper ContributorHi there!
I work on a IT company (Microsoft Partner) and the answer is pretty easy...
After september 30 2022, you can pay in order to retain the benefits you already have (in whatever partner program you are). i.e. If you still have running the benefits for Silver Partner Memebership, you are able to renew those benefits by paying.
In other words, after september 30, 2022, you will be able to renew your on-going benefits just once more, and that's all. i.e. if your Silver Partner Membership suppouse to end July 30, 2023, and you renew that day, you will retain the Silver Partner Benefits for one year more. After that, you will only have this Partnership options:
- Program Member
- Action Pack
- Solution Partner
- Specialization/Expert
Note: if you pay, you will only keep the benefits, because the "Silver Partner Program" ended on sept 30 2022.

Hello,
Thank you for your answer.
You mentioned "your Silver Partner Membership suppose to end July 30, 2023, and you renew that day, you will retain the Silver Partner Benefits for one year more". So that means that I won't be able to renew again July 30, 2024 ?
I checked the source link but I don't find anything about this 😕
I had someone from Microsoft on phone this day that told me that nothing was decided so far about Legacy partners and that it should (not will - we can't have any information about this as always) be ok to renew again in 2024.
I would like to be sure because this is an important decision from Microsoft for a company like ours.

It's correct what fel_man mentioned. After September 30th 2022, you could renew your legacy competency benefits only once more, after that you'll loose that status and the benefits.
You've done your one-off legacy competency renewal in January 2023, meaning you retain those legacy benefits until your next renewal date in January 2024. After that all benefits will drop and a new Solution Partner Designation is required to earn benefits, eg IUR or Incentives.

blakecheek We just got the option to renew our legacy benefits now, so I guess it proves that it is not retired yet at least.

Hello,
First of all, thank you for your reply.
Indeed, this has been covered in the past in the old forum but the answer was not pretty clear.
On my side I can't find either any information and I think this is very important (we're not the only company in the same situation).
This is why I try again to have some information because time is running.
I hope someone from Microsoft could help me !
