Polycom RealPresence Trio 8800
I'm looking at using the Polycom RealPresence Trio 8800 as a replacement for some of our smaller conference rooms. We are currently using a combined traditional conference phone with a Surface tablet ...

I finally broke down and purchased one of these and after spending a few hours trying to get it updated and will say that this is not an easy connection to S4B... it should simply login with credentials and it doesn't. I sense an RMA in the next 24 hours if it won't connect. It just isn't worth my time trying to make something work at this price point.

Smartdock or Trio ? We installed 5 SmartDocks a couple of weeks ago and the user feedback has been great. We had no great issues getting the Surface Pro's built and the accounts configured, but you do need to do it all correctly, like the SurfaceHub.
- David PhillipsMar 08, 2017Steel ContributorI'm interested to hear more about your experience with SmartDock. Also, doesn't SmartDock Surface Pro hardware come pre-loaded with software?
I have been holding out for the Polycom and Crestron offerings we saw at Ignite. I have always considered Logitech as a more consumer focused product.- Mar 08, 2017Happy to, I'll start a new thread though to leave this one about the Polycom Trio ...

I purchased the Trio and will attempt to get it connected to S4B again today. If that works, we'll test it out for disconnects and user adoption. Executives need to be able to simply start a meeting or dial out on this device without the need for technical support.
- christophe limetApr 03, 2017Brass Contributortotally agree with this opinion James. I had a Trio last year and altough the sound was outstanding there were some big issues for us:
No proxy configuration possible => major issue as we needed to setup a proxy account inside. We tried to set it in a DMZ like a polycom HDX but couldnt make it work outside of our network for registration on the tenant.
I ended up using my 4G for autodiscovering registration on O365 then switch back to current network for calling. I think the O365 certification is in pogress and the double stream should arrive soon in the evolutions.
To conclude: promising but not for us, since i have switched to SRS2. - Michal KijewskiMar 07, 2017Copper Contributor
trios just like vvx phones are more involed to get it working than older cx phones, or the new surface dock room systems. but they do work well once you have it running. 1 click meeting join, phone interface is easy and responsive.
we had this for few months now, and with the latest updates, system works really well. i would like to have screen scalling to work a little better (when you use the phone and the collaboration kit) but overall it works well.
speaking of screen scalling, its not much better with the logitech dock room system when presenting desktop.
