When will it be available?

Jun 21, 2017Since this was a migrated old post from the previous Stream forum, I just wanted to put an update here in case others find this post.
As of 6/20/17, we still do not have APIs available for Stream. We know this is a top requested item and are looking at tackling APIs soon. We don't have a timeline we can promise but we are tentatively hoping we can get to Stream public APIs by Q3/Q4 2017.

As we're nearing the end of 2017, is there an update on the availability of an API?

Api's available on
https://api.microsoftstream.com/api/$metadata?api-version=1.1
Looks to still be under development, re the api-version:
Supported version(s): 1.0, 1.0-private, 1.1, 1.1-private, 1.2-private, 1.3-private"

Correct, we don't yet have public REST APIs for Stream. This is something we hope to start working on in 2018 Q2 or Q3. Right now those are all internal APIs used by our code and by internal teams.

Keep us posted Marc. I have an enterprise media customer who wants to migrate several hundred terabytes of video to Stream and we need tool vendors to be able to support Stream as a target platform.

Stream APIs are high on our list. We hope to get working on them in earnest in the new year. No hard ETA that I can promise. (We've obviously didn't make the time frame we last mentioned).

Hi. We are looking for a simple API that allows us to share videos with people outside our organization. The specific use case would be to embed a video in our LMS so that people who login to the LMS (authenticated differently from O365), they should be able to see the video. Any idea if we can do this through something that exists, or when an appropriate API could be made available with this functionality?

Deleted - What you are looking for does not exist from MS Stream today, sorry.
It sounds like you need 2 of the features that are higher on our roadmap.
1. Public / anonymous access to videos. Be able to grab an embed code for a video and put it on a site for anyone not logged in to play.
2. APIs to be able to search/find and pull out embed codes for videos.
Both are features higher on our backlog but as we don't have engineers assigned to them right now it's hard to give a specific timeline.
