Flagged Emails not Syncing with Online To Do
Hi,
Emails I flag in Outlook do not appear in the Flagged emails list in the online version of To Do. Switching to Outlook online doesn't help the issue. I've also tried resetting To Do and deleting cookies, but to no avail.

Luka_TripaloJust wanted to add that I'm having the same problem. Just noticed this morning. Flagged mail doesn't appear in To Do for Win 10 or in To Do online. They do appear in my Android app (Nine Mail and Calendar) which is not a MS product. I've reset the app, uninstalled/reinstalled the app, tried unflagging/reflagging the messages online and in Win 10, and unflagging in Windows Mail then reflagging in Nine Mail on Android but have had no success.

Edit: I just tried a fresh install of Win 10--Didn't solve the problem. I know that sounds radical but it was easy for me to restore a backup image and pick up where I left off. I even tried restoring an even older image from last week and that didn't work either.

Experiencing the same issue today (19th April 2023)
- ManjuTCopper Contributorflagged emails were there in the morning and later in the day they just disappeared!
- applied windows updates
- restarted laptop
- opened "to do"
- toggled the "flagged email" button off and on in settings
- nothing worked..
- scratched my head
- looked for more articles on the matter
- revisited "to do" and the emails were appearing one by one!
- the sync button in the settings page was basically flashing away madly.
- closed "to do", reopened it - the flagged emails were empty again!
- about 5 seconds later - the flagged emails were back.
- possibly a sync issue in my case, I am assuming toggling the "flagged email" button reset it all and it took its time (about 20 min) from the moment I toggled the "flagged email" button. - jrobinson2314Copper Contributor
Luka_Tripalo I had the same issue. I turned the 'Flagged email' button to off in the 'Connected apps' section in the To Do settings menu. Then I restarted outlook and turn the 'Flagged email' button back to on, cleared the flag from the emails and re flagged them in Outlook. Then I hit the sync button in To Do and that seemed to work to fix the issue.

I was having the same issue. The fix for me was to:
** If you have MS Outlook open on your computer, close the program.
1. Go to Microsoft To Do: https://outlook.office.com/tasks/
2. Click on the Gear in the top-right header and then click on To-Do Settings
3. Once the settings dialog pops up, scroll down to Connected Apps section and select (turn on) Flagged Email. Then click the sync button in the Help and Feedback section.
4. Open MS Outlook on your computer. You will need to find any existing flagged emails and then unflag them and then flag them again. For any new flagged emails, they should automatically sync.
5. It takes a few seconds up to a minute for it to automatically show up on Microsoft To-Do Online version. You could also open up the settings icon to click Sync again, however, refreshing the page also starts the sync process.
Hope this helps anyone else running into this problem.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your help. Unticking, ticking flagged emails in ToDo settings and then sync worked for me.
I wanted to add, be careful if you find not all are listed in Flagged Emails, you may have already moved the task to another list in Todo. I think by removing the flag and adding it again in Outlook, the task will still show in the list it was last in.
Also, it was already mentioned but, I didn't catch on; if you are seeing the same task listed more than once in your list, you've likely flagged the conversation. Unflag, expand the conversation and choose the email you want to follow up.
Thanks everyone for your help.

I also have this problem, and the workaround that seems to have worked for so many people did not work for me. I posted more details on this similar thread here:

Luka_Tripalo , I've had the same issue with flagged emails not showing up in my MS To Do app since its inception. I just recently upgraded to a new surface laptop studio running Windows 11 -- unfortunately the problem persists. I have exchange and IMAP email accounts synced to my OUtlook 365 account.
None of the flagged emails show up. This seems like a good idea -- it just doesn't work as expected.
I would hope the windows team would have better QC and not promote features until there tested - at least on their own hardware and software!

Luka_Tripalo I ran this command in Windows with Outlook closed, and it fixed the issue immediately. Steps are shown here:

I hope it helps. - GlynJonesCopper Contributor
I had the same issue and did some investigation, I found this article...
To save you time it contains this wording which may be your problem, I believe it is the problem we are facing.
Note: This feature is only available if you’re using an account that’s hosted by Microsoft, such as an Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, or Live.com account. It’s also available if you’re using an account hosted by Microsoft but using a custom domain.
- RafeNusseyCopper ContributorI notice on my https://to-do.office.com/tasks the list refers to "Flagged email", of which I have a number on the list. However, on the new board on the Calendar (https://outlook.office.com/calendar/view/board), it refers to "Flagged Emails (1)", which, if I go back to the to-do site I can add as a separate list in my to-do page. The lists appear to be completely different and I cannot sync them across those two sites, as I cannot create a custom list.

Luka_Tripalo I had this issue too. What I figured out was that it doesn't take any flagged email from before I opened the Task list the first time. The way that I fixed it was to go into my email and unflag and re-flag what I wanted to keep. That fixed it. I can't believe that it doesn't do a better job of syncing but that did work. Just be careful of messages that are flagged in a thread, it will add everything in the thread, at least that's what it did on mine. I'm on a Mac but that should not matter as much as it's browser based.
