Merge 2 communities in Viva engage and delete one

Hello Members,

Please help me with this requirement below

a) Remove/close this viva community -   News - 6.2k users

b) Continue with this community only -  News in Exchange - 4.7k users

When the News group is deleted, it would be good if the people that are in group a) are automatically added to group b) so they don´t need to enter another group on their own.

Is there a proper process/solution for this?

Thanks!

    Hi chiragshukla20,

I am currently in a similar situation where we are about to merge two existing communities into one.

I am wondering how you went about preserving the content from community A. Did you keep anything? Or just accepted by importing users to community B and deleting community A, all posts from community A would be deleted as well?

If anyone knows anything about archiving content from Viva Engage communities (even if just to store in a separate folder somewhere) - would be highly appreciated!

      • Login to portal.Azure.com.
      • Select Entra ID >> All groups >> find Group “A” >> select the group
      • Navigate to “members” in the left pane.
      • Click on “bulk operations” >> Download members.
      • The members list with object IDs and UPN will be downloaded.
      • Save it.
      • Navigate to Entra ID and find Group “B” >> select the group.
      • Click on “bulk operations” >> Import members
      • Download CSV template which gives you a format to enter the details of the members i.e. with object ID/UPN.
      • Copy and paste the details of the members in appropriate format in the file and upload the file in the group.
      • You can also find the duplicate members in the list; however, it will give a “bad request” message, and you can remove those members from the list.
      • Refresh the page and you can see expected members in Group “b”.
  • Nothing that Microsoft provides natively. Possibly look to third parties/ISVs for this.

Thanks for the reply. I just have to import users from Group A to Group B and it worked and then to delete Group A. New members will get email notification that they got added to the community.
