Upgrade from Windows 11 Home to Pro cost

I am looking at purchasing a new Surface Pro 7+ with the 12.3" touchscreen. It comes with Windows 11 Home. I am reasonably sure I will prefer to have Pro instead. What is the cost for the activation key to make that happen?? I cannot find a place on the store to answer this question.

Thank you,,

Peter

You can download the Pro version from Microsoft App Store and the upgrade fee is 99 USD.

The cost is 99 USD when upgrading to Pro version. And it is really worth the money!

You can upgrade it directly from the Microsoft Store, just go to Settings > System > Activation.
then choose upgrade from Microsoft App, it is only $99 USD for the upgrade, but you can also buy a key from the microsoft partner keyingo, it is cheaper , then you need to choose "I have a windows 11 Pro product key ", then input the product key and wait for the upgrade !

Seems like Keyingo only sells the full version of Windows 11 Pro, not the upgrade from Home to Pro. If a computer already has Windows 11 Home pre-loaded, would the full version of Windows 11 Pro still work for me?adgmiea

No worries, the key is for both full installation and upgrade, I use it to upgrade from home to Pro version too !west5567

    Hi PeterV959 ,

You can upgrade it directly from the Microsoft Store, just go to Settings > System > Activation.

See below the instructions and the price.

Also, you are probably buying consumer version of Surface Pro 7+, if you want to get with Pro - you can get Surface Pro 7+ Business version. Check here:

With Business version it comes with Pro already. Buy Surface Pro 7+ for Business: Ultra-light 2-in-1 - Microsoft Store

    Good luck.

Quick question : I successfully did this in OEM PC (Dell/Acer), what happen the PC itself need Reset or Recovery, will it remain at Windows Pro version?

Thank you. I am purchasing the Surface soon. My problem was I had no way to get to those screens. The $99 price tag is about what I expected. Any idea how long it takes to activate and/or configure? Presumably it's already installed and just a "switch" that gets turned on or is there a massive download & install?

        Hi PeterV959 ,

once you upgrade, computer will reboot and apply some update. It should not take more then 15 minutes.

        Good luck!

I will do that on Monday. The store is only open on business days.
