Could you help make SenseCE.exe more energy efficient? My laptop is running really hot right now and I am afraid Windows Defender *whatever software* will kill my laptop someday.

Could you please check the version of your Windows defender?
There is a bug in engine 1.1.18100.5 listed on https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-defender-bug-fills-windows-10-boot-drive-with-thousands-of-files/
You can fix it updating it to version 1.1.18100.6
