We are very excited to announce a Translator within Cognitive Services AMA!
An AMA is a live text-based online event similar to a “YamJam” on Yammer or an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with Microsoft product experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.
Feel free to post your questions anytime in the comments below beforehand, if it fits your schedule or time zone better, though questions will not be answered until the live hour.

- Max-BueckerCopper ContributorDoes the translator support multiple source languages and switching between them in a single document/conversation?
- diegobartolome
Microsoft
Yes, you can translate using auto-detect at the sentence level.

What are the supported languages? Can all languages be translated into all other supported languages, or does the support depend on a combination of source and target language?
- diegobartolome
Microsoft
Supported languages are here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/translator/languages/ and you can translate from any language into any language.- moelghaz
Microsoft
Use https://api.cognitive.microsofttranslator.com/languages?api-version=3.0 to list supported languages.
- Max-BueckerCopper ContributorOther cognitive services have been marketed as on-par or exceeding human performance before. Unfortunately, I could not confirm this when trying things out. How do you compare human performance with model performance? What type of human is setting the benchmark?
- diegobartolome
Microsoft
If you have questions or comments related to your particular use case, please reach out to us. We are evaluating the models through a combination of automated metrics and human judgement. Performance is dependent on language pair, content type, actual content you translate, so it could vary significantly depending on the case. - cap2ndBrass ContributorI would also like to know what kind of person is at the end of the line. Would it be possible to include a spellmouth that can read between the lines for it ?
