I like the features that you've been rolling out. The one thing that is concerning me and my clients the most is the eventual replacement of syncing with shortcuts. My clients are syncing thousands and thousands of files in some cases. If that feature goes away at some point in the future, the changeover is going to be incredibly painful for them we live and they work in an area that is geographically dispersed, and does not always have Internet connectivity for example when they are on ferries. The ability to work off-line is required here at some points in time, and usually frequently during the week when they are in the field..
will you also have the ability to have bulk renaming or bulk comments on photos in the gallery?

I hear you and I totally agree that working offline is required. The OneDrive Sync client will continue to support Offline work, there will be no changes there. Folder shortcuts sync down to File Explorer as long as the Sync client is set up and running. The only difference between shortcuts and previously sync Shared libraries is where they appear in File Explorer, Shortcuts show up within the OneDrive node, whereas the synced Shared Libraries show up as a different folder on the left nav. There will be future investments in this area, but rest assured that offline work will continue to work on whatever method you use for collaborative folders. I hope this helps.
- Karen_EbdonCopper Contributor👏 - Thank you for the adoption update today!
- RossanaSCopper Contributoryeah but you can't work offline if you have folders shortcuts!

Once you have a folder shortcut it will appear in File Explore via the Sync client and you can mark the shortcut as available offline.- AMartireCopper ContributorAs Carter said, I also find it useful that you can then make individual folders available off-line rather than the whole document library. This to me is really the power of using Shortcut vs sync!
- Thanks!!!!

I'll try and summarize here, but may need to elaborate:
- Issues with hybrid work+personal desktop app.
- Hard to define main account/owner and how to correct when wrong?
- if you install while having already files in the destination folder, instead of comparing, duplicates files
- Sharing: I'm GlobalAdmin in a small no-profit, I disabled sharing outside the company, but this should be for users only, instead I have the same, despite my rights
- In Android: if set up to cack-up pictures in OneDrive, when you delete pictures from device, they still stay on OD. Result: clutter, double work to clean up and possibly space issues!

1. If you are talking about the OneDrive Sync client, we support both Work and Personal accounts at the same time. The Work account is differentiated in the Systray by being blue and in File Explorer by having your tenant name, learn more here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/sync-files-with-onedrive-in-windows-615391c4-2bd3-4aae-a42a-858262e42a49. I would also encourage you to use a new folder if you are having problems with duplication, OR you could just remove all OneDrive folders beforehand.
2. I would point you to "Allow only users in specific security groups to share externally" here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/turn-external-sharing-on-or-off#more-external-sharing-settings
3. I understand this issue, it is a system issue we are trying to resolve. As a workaround, if you use the Android OneDrive app to view your photos, you can delete photos and those deletes will be respected on the device and the service.
- Issues with hybrid work+personal desktop app.
- jimr381Brass ContributorI suggest for the second call today or for next month's meeting that you setup a test link for people to test to see if their systems allow them to watch the stream. Most platforms such as Zoom, WebEx, etc have a test site for you to kick the tires and then it does an assessment to tell you what might be off.

Offline mode in OneDrive 🙌🙌🙌 - MichaelS1260Copper ContributorWe're having a lot of issues with using the "Sync" feature with SharePoint/Teams files. Issues with windows file path length limits, issues with long sync times with high file count archives, users trying to make massive archives available offline and filling their hard drives, etc. Are there best practices? Is this feature not recommended? We want to move from legacy file shares to M365 but this has been challenging.

We also produced an episode of The Intrazone with the OneDrive product team to address "Sync vs Add to OneDrive": https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-sharepoint-blog/add-to-onedrive-the-intrazone-podcast/ba-p/3680673 - it's a great listen, and the blog has good links, too.- MichaelS1260Copper ContributorThank you! Checking this out now.

Thanks for sharing your issues. Regarding your File Paths limits, we apologize for this since it is a service constraint, we do have a 400 character limit for the file path (see more here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/restrictions-and-limitations-in-onedrive-and-sharepoint-64883a5d-228e-48f5-b3d2-eb39e07630fa#filenamepathlengths) Regarding bring massive archives offline, I'm curious why bringing the entire library offline is desired. The power of Files on Demand is that a user can access a whole library on demand, thus not overtaking the network with all the sync operations for the whole library. Best practice is to user Files on Demand and only make your working set of files available locally. The other best practice is to use Folder shortcuts for Shared Libraries such as SharePoint Doc Libs and other shared folders.- MichaelS1260Copper Contributor
Users *should not* sync all files but that's not easily understood. We recommend that but a few months later, users forget and think "oh, I'll make this available offline for my flight" and then crush their PC.
It would be nice if we could limit the max size of sync'd files through a policy, or if the user got a warning when syncing more than x files or y size.
- AMartireCopper Contributor
Try using the button at the top of a sharepoint document library/folder, this just adds a shortcut to your OneDrive where you can access the data live as long as you have Internet access.
- MichaelS1260Copper ContributorThis seems to cause worse issues. With this, anytime you get a sync error, the OneDrive folder stops syncing until you resolve. At least with the "Sync" feature, the error is compartmentalized to that one SharePoint list.
