- What's the latest on Enterprise Software Management? Has an option been added to auto-update items in the catalog without having to re-publish the app each time a new version is released?

Hi Brian Dagan. Assuming you are are referring to Enterprise App Management in Intune, look for news on this in the near future as we are working hard on a feature set that I think matches what you are asking about here.
- We have 16K student devices, many fail updates, Bitlocker doesn't recover, and they need to be re-imaged. When we do this, we get a duplicate device in Azure/Entra>Devices, but not in Intune. How can we prevent this or manage the duplicates?
- Using AutoPilot has cleaned a lot of duplicates up from what I've seen. It's still not 100% but has been better.
- Most EDU's don't use AutoPilot because many students are nefarious and constantly gaming IT. If AP is used to provision, there are a few moments in the process in which the end-user can gain admin control of the device.
- Any plans for user affinity? Using inventory data to automatically set/change primary user based on logon duration?
- Abby_StarrHey Eric! We don't have plans for that today, but we recognize the importance of the use case.
- Does Windows diagnostic data needs to be enabled in Tenant administration for that information to be collected from the devices?
- Jason_SandysHi EvgeniYordanov. What information are you referring to? The inventory info discussed in this event? If so, then no, this is not Windows diagnostic info. It is info collected by Intune and specifically enabled and controlled by the Intune tenant admins.
- Can you say anything on Discovered Apps part? Are you guys improving reliability and accuracy of it?
- Abby_StarrHey Teemu-- the short answer is yes. We recognize the need here, and we are investigating improvements to discovered apps.
- Are you planning to Improve the reporting options? Possible canned reporting options. Coming from SCCM to Intune reporting options just aren't there for those without report writing background. I hear lots of comments around short falls in quickly visualizing the data Intune can provide.
- Abby_StarrHi there Cliff! There are no reporting improvements planned for the initial release of the device inventory feature. However, we recognize the need for more customizable and robust reporting, and we have some upcoming improvements that we're still discussing.
- Will Device Inventory information be available for Remediation actions, for example clean up disk when disk space is below (Device Inventory) certain value ?
- Hi Jason, let me give some examples: (1) Remediation available disk space: detection=powershell script to get available disk space, remediation script=powershell for full cleanup. (2) BitLocker status: detection=is BL suspended/off, remediation=powershell to re-activate. If Device Inventory reports on disk space and BitLocker status, these properties could be used in the Detection phase. Off course I also see a disadvantage: a detection script is running "live" on the device and evaluates the most recent status, while used inventory information could not contain the most recent status. Conclusion: via device inventory is not the best way, unless the properties are re-evaluated live one the computer in Detection phase (e.g. DeviceInventory.FreeDiskSpace < 100 GB).
- Jason_SandysHi Johan. Remediation scripts are run live and in real-time on the device and can thus (live and in real-time) query that information as they run. Pulling the info from inventory could probably be done (from wherever it is cached locally) but doesn't add any value necessarily as this info is potentially stale. I think that based on your last sentence, you've concluded this as well.
- Jason_SandysHi Johan Vanaken. Sorry, but why would you need this info in inventory for a remediation to take action? Are you specifically talking about on-demand actions so that an admin can decide to initiate a remediation based on info shown to them in the console that was collected from inventory?
- Abby_StarrHey Johan-- Device inventory info will not be available with our initial release. However, we love that feature suggestion. Would love to know more about some of the remediations you'd be most interested in!
- FYI.... we already do that filtering to remove devices that are in Autopilot but have never been through OOBE today in BI for Intune. 🙂
