Someone at Microsoft has forgotten why do-whatever-they-want EXE and MSI installers were not allowed in the Store. The store WAS more than just a list of installable apps. By requiring legacy apps to be APPX packaged, or better, MSIX packaged UWP apps, it got us closer to the security and privacy model that Android, Chrome OS and iOS have.
I am thankful I may no longer have to re-package as many applications. However, as long software vendors are allowed to do whatever they want, they have no incentive to change. Without Microsoft putting their foot down, administrators are left to fill the gaps. We are forced to not only take on the added risks associated with these poor software practices and designs, but also attempt to apply safeguards around them, then clean up any messes after a compromise.

- One thing keeping me from deploying something like Adobe Reader from the new method is I cannot apply configurations with our MST file. Any discussions for including additional command-line options to allow us to deploy apps from the app store with an attached MST file (just an example)?

- Will winget be able to update things like the extensions (Web, Webp, VP9, HEIF) from the app store? Currently, even though I know the app is out of date, winget tells me it is up to date. This creates problems when our vulnerability scanning determines those app versions have CVEs.
- If your store apps aren't updating, it's because you're applying policies to block its functionality to do so, or your network team are blocking MS endpoints. Winget is not going to fix those things.
- Any update on running winget in the SYSTEM context to update apps for all users? We have many old/vulnerable store apps and it is proving challenging to update them in an automated fashion.

- You say that Apps from the old stores are avaliable, but some have been skipped for the new store integration. Minecraft Education Edition being one of them, aswell as Classroom mode for Minecraft. This shows that not even Microsoft is comitted to keeping applications in the msstore-repository. Is this a timing issue, where the migration is not done, or is this expected to be continued going forward?
