Have questions about deploying and managing Microsoft Store, line-of-business (LOB), and Win32 apps across your Windows ecosystem? Ask Microsoft Anything! With support for the Microsoft Store for Business and Microsoft Store for Education currently being removed from Microsoft Intune, there’s never been a better time to get the answers and information you need to create a great app experience for your end users.
Ask about best practices for importing and publishing apps using Intune. Get tips on how to allow people to self-install apps from the Company Portal. Find out what to do, where, and when if you’re currently managing endpoints on premises. Figure out if and when Windows Package Manager should play a role in your process. This event is all about answering your questions. Let’s talk apps!
Post your questions in the Comments below. We'll have experts responding in the live stream and others in chat. |

- AnthonymelwhrhsSteel ContributorIf we are blocking the winget repository via policy and we have a required Win32 app that is deployed from the store it will install without issue. However based on that last question that was answered, the IME will use winget to update the app? In our scenario does that mean it will not update since the winget repository is blocked? We have noticed this with the popular OBS app. Deployed months ago via Intune still stuck on that version and does not automatically update.
- Eric79xIron ContributorI just found this page right before Roy talked about the group policy templates: https://github.com/microsoft/winget-cli/releases/tag/v1.4.10173

Will it be possible to force application updates (in the event of a critical vulnerability) on workstations with non-administrator users? How often are updates checked?

Thanks for participating in today's session of AMA: Microsoft Store and Windows app management! For reference, the panel covered this topic at around 45:00.
- Henk_-_Simac_IT_NLCopper ContributorWill there be an option to deploy private win32 apps with the new store / winget?
- Bryan Keller
Microsoft
It is definitely something we are considering. We don't have any firm plans to share at this time.

Will the new store be integrated with the kiosk profile? As msfb is already intrgrated but then deprecated, first we needed to add apps into the msfb and then we could manage the apps in this profile.

- Eric79xIron ContributorSome may say it took way too long, but most of us ARE thankful that y'all have finally got some kind of package management going. So, Thanks for all this.
- KomalTaggarCasual Readerwe have a co-managed environment and currently my 'client apps' workload is NOT enabled for intune. what (if any) implication can I come across switching from Configuration manager to Pilot Intune, do I lose any capabilities deploying applications that are being deployed in MECM?
- KAMAL575Copper Contributorif you put in the member collections in the pilot for the client apps workload, I assume you should be able to use both the world, which is what we experience.
- KomalTaggarCasual Readerthat's what I am assuming as well. Unfortunately I do not have a test environment and I also do not know of the implications if need to switch back to Configuration Mgr. I remember reading somewhere that we cannot fully revert back.
- Robert_SudburyCopper ContributorApps are getting larger every day. For Intune win32 apps. IME downloads and extracts of the full app package. For Uninstallation it also requires downloading and extraction of the full package. Short of creating a separate smaller win32app to uninstall, is there any plan to allow a secondary .intunewin file be used for uninstall without creating a second Intune app?. eg: a large 20GB installing .intunewin needs to be uninstalled, but the entire 20GB file is downloaded by IME then extracted when just a command or a smaller script will do. Troublesome if insufficient space on client to download the entire original intunewin just to 'uninstall' with a script. Yes a second app or a script could be created elsewhere, but why not build in the ability into the single Intune app?
- mcanizzaro24Brass ContributorYou may have already addressed this. If the store is blocked with CSP or Group Policy, can we still deploy store apps from Intune with the available assignment in the Company Portal app.
- Bryan Keller
Microsoft
Yes, you are correct, it will work using the Intune app assignment.

Is Microsoft Store ready to be used in for app management in Government Environment, for governance and other policies that are required in government environemnts?
- Char_CheesmanBronze Contributor
We surfaced your question during today's session of AMA: Managing Windows in the public sector, as well. Please see the panel's answer at around 16:00.
