Android 9 pie and latest version of Edge Android beta, in the file manager when I "Open with" on PDF file, Edge isn't available. I'd like the same features we have on desktop, Mac, Linux to be available on Android and IOS too. if you want the same, please send a feedback through Edge browser about this. thank you43KViews5likes24CommentsHow to view and manage your Microsoft passwords on Linux/Chrome/ChromeOS (Without Edge or mobile)
1. install Google Chrome (or other Chromium based browsers, including Edge itself) 2. install Microsoft Autofill extension 3. Sign into your Microsoft account in the extension 4. Access your Passwords safely and hassle-free * you do Not need to sign in to Google account for this. ** this works on Mac and Windows too, basically any environment where you can install this extension in. The extension also has Import feature, so you can import your passwords at once from a file and save them to your Microsoft account. Questions & answers about Microsoft Authenticator app - Azure AD | Microsoft Docs Q: How are my passwords protected by the Authenticator app? A: Authenticator app already provides a high level of security for multi-factor authentication and account management, and the same high security bar is also extended to managing your passwords. Strong authentication is needed by Authenticator app: Signing into Authenticator requires a second factor. This means that your passwords inside Authenticator app can't be accessed even if someone has your Microsoft account password. Autofill data is protected with biometrics and passcode: Before you can autofill password on an app or site, Authenticator requires biometric or device passcode. This ensures that even if someone else has access to your device, they cannot fill or see your password, as they’d be unable to provide the biometric or device PIN. Furthermore, a user cannot open the Passwords page unless they provide biometric or PIN, even if they turn off App Lock in app settings. Encrypted Passwords on the device: Passwords on device are encrypted, and encryption/decryption keys are never stored and always generated on-the-fly. Passwords are only decrypted when user wants to, that is, during autofill or when user wants to see the password, both of which require biometric or PIN. Cloud and network security: Your passwords on the cloud are encrypted and decrypted only when they reach your device. Passwords are synced over an SSL-protected HTTPS connection, which ensures no attacker can eavesdrop on sensitive data when it is being synced. We also ensure we check the sanity of data being synced over network using cryptographic hashed functions (specifically, hash-based message authentication code).9.7KViews2likes4CommentsSaved Passwords in Edge are now available to All apps on Mobile - System Wide Password Manager
I've been using Microsoft Authenticator Beta app for a while on my Android phone, today I received an update and now the app works as a system-wide password manager (Password filler), for all websites and apps. This should work on IOS too. If possible, it would be good to see notification badges on taskbar for the pinned website like Twitter and other social media platforms we already get some sort of hint when there is notification available on Twitter on Edge favorites toolbar, (using Edge canary 83 at the moment) notice the small red dot. it disappears when I go to Twitter and check my notifications or mark them as read. i think this is great and needs to be visible on the Taskbar pinned items too.8.8KViews5likes9CommentsNew Feature in Edge Canary Version 84.0.492.0 - install sites as share target for the whole Windows
This newly added flag: Enable Share Targets Enables installed web apps to register for and receive Share requests from the Windows shell. Requires the Web App Identity Proxy functionality to be enabled as well. – Windows #edge-share-target which requires this flag to be enabled as well: Web Apps Identity Proxy Enables installed web apps to be created with modern Windows application identity for better integration with the Windows shell. – Windows #edge-webapp-identity-proxy the description of the flag is self explanatory but what it does is that when you install a social network website such as Twitter as an app in Edge, it will be added as a share target when you press Share button on Edge or anywhere on Windows 10. Twitter will be registered as a system-wide share target so any app or program in Windows 10 can share files to Twitter website. this was requested before and now implemented. thank you! this is an example of Share from Photos app and you see Twitter which is the website installed as app in Edge is a share target on the list. Keep in mind that this is the first implementation phase for this feature so it might have bugs or might not work for you at all.3KViews4likes6CommentsAdd the option to open favorite items in installed Edge apps
to clarify what I'm referring to: I have YouTube website installed as an app in Edge browser when I go to YouTube.com from main Edge window (Not the pinned website or PWA), and right-click on a link, I get this option which lets me open the link (in this case it's a video), in the pinned YouTube app. but when I right-click on the YouTube favorite item in the favorite bar, I don't see this option. it's missing from there. it makes sense to add the same option in favorite items right-click menu too. This is Version 82.0.449.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) the nature of this bug prevents me to properly send it using feedback button on Edge browser, so I really hope someone from Microsoft will take this manually and let the team know about it. thank youSolved1.3KViews6likes2Comments[Suggesion] Add an option to make websites installd as apps to be always on top, like Windows apps
Add the option to somewhere like this As to Why I want this feature and reasons behind it, there are a couple: I want to install YouTube website as an app, make it to be on top of all windows so it won't be behind the program that I use. for example I want to code in Visual Studio and watch a YouTube video to learn something and apply it directly. I want to have Bing or Google search installed as an app in Edge, launch the app, resize the window to have a rectangle shape, put it on the left side to have a side bar which always stays on top. now I can always quickly search for anything I want in that Edge app, no matter what program I use, because it stays on top.*** there are lots of other examples, where websites host a specific service and when we add it in Edge as an app, we will be able to use it just like a real Windows app and have it accessible on all programs if we pin it to be always on top. ***You could say that I could use Windows 10 search on the taskbar but It's not the same. because when you click on something, a picture, video etc, that is a link, the search app in Windows 10 will open it in a full browser window. what i would want is to view that image, watch that YouTube video, right from my Windows 10 taskbar, without going to a full browser window.
