MS Edge - Sidebar and copilot not working on Linux Ubuntu v24 LTS
Sidebar not syncing or accepting new app additions (+). Copilot button is dead/inactive. Sidebar settings are well configured. Using the latest version of the Ubuntu OS and MS Edge. Functionality appears to be absent as product was released without full functionality....Lame!
100% CPU usage since Edge 105 on Mac M1 ?
After browsing for a little while, CPU usage increases to 100%. When I checked in Task Manager, it's not related to any specific tab but the "browser" process. Closed all tabs doesn't solve it. I temporarily switched to 106 (dev) and the issue is gone for awhile but then resurfaces

This long thread will take your some time to read. A long-term BUG or design problem regarding the integration of EDGE and WINDOWS Explorer (EXPLORER.EXE) ALT+TAB view. This bug is very unbearable for me, and nearly 30 years of programming experience generally makes me try to solve the problem myself, but in the end, there is nothing I can do, and I decided to write my findings here. Recap: 1. This property integrates some tabs of EDGE with windows explorer in ALT+TAB to provide faster task switching 2. I turned off this function in the settings, and the corresponding registry key value is: 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\MultiTaskingAltTabFilter' = 3 Problem Description: 1. In daily life, I am used to keeping 600-700 TABs in EDGE. With the latest version of the tab sleep function, EDGE works well, but EXPLORER will start to crash as my TAB increases. 2. After observation, it is known that in this case, EXPLORER's GDI OBJECT and HANDER will grow abnormally, so as to break the default limit of 10000, and then crash. After the crash, HANDER will increase slowly, and this behavior will continue to loop my thoughts: 1. In my programmer's thinking mode for many years, when you turn off this function, EDGE should not share the content of TAB with EXPLORER, occupying system resources for no reason, but should cut off the information of this API. He only needs to tell EXPLORER How many windows you have, the title content of each WINDOW is enough. 2. Before the EDGE browser added ALT+TAB to switch tabs, I even reached 1000 tabs. The system runs smoothly without any experience problems, and the EXPLORER will not crash. My intuition tells me that this function is the cause 3.The registry key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\MultiTaskingAltTabFilter' = 3 just hides these TABs, but in fact these TAB views still occupy full system resources (handle resources in EXPLORER), This kind of deception can't really solve the performance problem of the system. The real shutdown of this problem should be made by the EDGE development team and the WINDOWS development team to make some kind of switch/registry/group policy, so that EXPLORER completely ignores the details of the EDGE tab content in certain cases . to clarify what I'm referring to: I have YouTube website installed as an app in Edge browser when I go to YouTube.com from main Edge window (Not the pinned website or PWA), and right-click on a link, I get this option which lets me open the link (in this case it's a video), in the pinned YouTube app. but when I right-click on the YouTube favorite item in the favorite bar, I don't see this option. it's missing from there. it makes sense to add the same option in favorite items right-click menu too. This is Version 82.0.449.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) the nature of this bug prevents me to properly send it using feedback button on Edge browser, so I really hope someone from Microsoft will take this manually and let the team know about it. thank you
Edge 130.0.2849.46 (Official build) (64-bit) Broke Extension(s) - Ublock Origin in this case.
Hello, I know very well that Edge is also moving to MV3. But, there isn't any announcement about complete removal of MV2 yet. Since Edge updated to v130, it broke popular extension like Ublock Origin, for many people. We've reported the issue to extension devs, it but seems that while there are many people who are affected, there still be many that have extension working fine as expected. https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/3419 Many people've reported this issue not only on github, but also on reddit as well. The extension was working fine before v130, so we suspect that the cause is Edge update itself. - Issue: The extension loads but cannot run, and its dashboard page cannot load, is completely empty. Turn on/off does not work. Removing/Reinstalling from MSEdge Store also does not work. The only "workaround" for this is setting up a completely new blank local profile, but that will cost all the synced settings and extensions data. So in Edge password manager, you took care of this problem by showing a fixed number of stars to prevent unauthorized users from seeing the exact number of characters in each password. but the problem is, you can still see the total number of password characters when you go to each website. notice the upper password has 3 characters more and I checked and confirm that the number of stars correctly represent the number of characters in the unmasked password. and since an attacker can see the websites names in plain text in Edge password manager: edge://settings/passwords all they have to do is to go to that website, click on the username/password field to view the exact number of password characters. using Edge dev Version 87.0.664.8 (Official build) dev (64-bit) (also sent using feedback button on Edge)
