Would it be possible to create an official portable version of Edge-Chromium that is fully self contained and can be run from any location including external storage such as a USB flash drive? The portable variant should not write any files/folders or leave any trace on the main "system drive" or elsewhere other than the designated portable folder. There currently is an unofficial portable version of Google chrome available from portableapps.com however, folders are created in the main "system drive\AppData" location despite initiating using switches such as "--user-data-dir=" and "--disk-cache-dir=" instructing chrome otherwise. The folders created are "C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Crashpad" and "C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\Temp\GoogleChromePortable" Additional files and folders are also created in system drive\AppData\Local\ depending on the usage of the browser. I believe Opera offers an official portable version that is fully self contained, so it executes, caches data and installs extensions in a specific portable folder ONLY without writing anything to the "system drive" or elsewhere although, I believe when updating, files are temporarily written to the main system disk. I understand that chromium has its limitations such that settings and extensions per profile are tied to a specific computer, so if one was to copy/install the portable directory to a USB stick, insert into a different computer and execute, expecting it to retain the aforementioned parameters, it does not. This appears to be a deliberate design function however, one can create a Google account and sync their settings thus retain the parameters. Similarly, I would imagine that synchronising settings using a Microsoft account is required in Edge-Chromium. If Microsoft could offer a variant that can override this behaviour and retain the settings between different machines (similar to the unofficial Firefox Portable) that would be a huge leap ahead of the rest of the chromium based competition however, a fully self contained, proper portable browser would be perfect at this stage. Edge chromium currently hides the taskbar in fullscreen mode. User has to press Win + T or Win keys every time to display taskbar while in fullscreen. When being fullscreen taskbar should be visible when the mouse is brought down near the taskbar. Edge legacy had this feature. Kindly work on it. I am attaching a screenshot from the deg legacy.6.5KViews9likes7CommentsEdge not receiving notifications when closed
This has been going on for months, it actually never worked and despite many posts from other users, it wasn't put on the feedback list to be fixed. I tried sending several feedbacks through browser as well in the last months. I hope someone manually give this a higher priority. here is the Chrome article about this: https://developers.google.com/web/ilt/pwa/introduction-to-push-notifications "Push messaging lets developers engage users by providing timely and customized content outside the context of the web page. It is one of the most critical APIs to come to the web, giving users the ability to engage with web experiences even when the browser is closed, without the need for a native app install." Currently Edge canary is Version 81.0.406.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) all the related flags (native notifications etc etc) are all tested and they have no effects.Solved12KViews6likes29CommentsNew Edge Canary Mobile version - Available Now - Updated Chromium version

Google said Wednesday that it will begin to phase out traditional Chrome apps starting in June, and winding down slowly over two years’ time. Chrome extensions, though, will live on. This is good, because the new Chromium based Microsoft Edge isn't compatible with Chrome apps which are basically the same as Chromium extensions. so with this update, Microsoft won't be needing to add any compatibility for those apps. With this continued progress, we are expanding upon our earlier announcement and will begin phasing out support for Chrome Apps across all operating systems as follows: March 2020: Chrome Web Store will stop accepting new Chrome Apps. Developers will be able to update existing Chrome Apps through June 2022. June 2020: End support for Chrome Apps on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Customers who have Chrome Enterprise and Chrome Education Upgrade will have access to a policy to extend support through December 2020. December 2020: End support for Chrome Apps on Windows, Mac, and Linux. June 2021: End support for NaCl, PNaCl, and PPAPI APIs. June 2021: End support for Chrome Apps on Chrome OS. Customers who have Chrome Enterprise and Chrome Education Upgrade will have access to a policy to extend support through June 2022. June 2022: End support for Chrome Apps on Chrome OS for all customers. Also end of support for NaCL, PNaCL and PPAPI, are all good news for everyone. They are all Google-specific technologies. most of the stuff built upon them only require Google chrome browser. removing them also removes that restriction and makes everyone happy. Cheers everyone! It's a very small, quite insignificant feature request, however I was curious if there was any way to create a game for when users of Edge are offline, quite similar to the dino game of Google Chrome. Maybe something like Clippy's Adventure or some sort of "Easter egg" for the fans. Could help improve engagement as well as build a fan base, similar to that of Chrome!8.6KViews3likes4Comments[Resolved] Adding cookies to the Allow list makes them bypass the 3rd party cookie blocking !?
When I turn on 3rd party cookie blocking, and add [*.]youtube.com [*.]google.com to the allow list of cookies this causes Google and YouTube cookies to be read and accessed in Reddit and other sites, Even though 3rd party Cookie blocking is enabled. Edge (or Chromium in general, since it happens on Chrome 88 stable too) is confused. that Allow list is for allowing certain cookies to enter or stay in the browser, the Allow list is Not a 3rd party cookie bypass list. my actual setup and configuration was more complex but I had to do lots of testing to find out why Reddit still detects and asks me to sign into my Google account when 3rd party cookie blocking is enabled!3.3KViews3likes9Comments[FIXED] How long can Edge mobile keep using Chromium 77 and still receive updated security patches?
Edge on Android is now on the latest version, the same as Edge desktop, everything is new and up to date. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/new-edge-canary-mobile-version-available-now-updated-chromium/m-p/2275690 Edge beta mobile (Android) is using Chromium 77.0.3865.116 at the moment how long can it stick to version 77 and still receive security patches, bug fixes for zero-day threats etc.? like this one and what's so special about version 77 of Chromium? what made Edge team choose that and stick with it for such a long time!? lastly, is there ever going to be a time where we will be using up to date Chromium engine in Edge mobile, just like on computer? i really need someone from Edge team answer to this, I'm using it on my own device and also made others close to me to switch over to Edge too, so I'm a little concerned here. and this is something many people in different topics talked about.2KViews3likes3CommentsFeature update - New label on flags
Deleted The edge://flags pages should have the new flags with New label and should come at the top. So it would be easier to identify the latest feature flags instead to go through all the flags and manually decide if that is new. Currently, everytime I update my canary I have to search whole flag list for any new flags to try out.1KViews3likes1Comment
