Class Notebook App
2 TopicsAnyone else having page or section distribution speed issues in OneNote Class Notebook?
We have been satisfied users of OneNote Class Notebooks going back to OneNote 2013, when the notebooks were locally hosted. We progressed to OneNote 2016 and moved into using an Office 365 tenant - no problem. Now we have moved to the Windows 10 App. Since making the change, our file distribution time from teacher to student has changed from minutes to hours. Following up with Microsoft Taiwan has eliminated any known configuration issues, but we're told we can't go farther without Premier Support. We do a lot of distribution to students through Class Notebooks. This distribution feature had been working when we used OneNote 2016 for Windows (using our Office 365 tenant) with the Class Notebook plug in. It is a significant part of our instructional workflow. We changed to the Windows 10 version of OneNote as we understood that to be Microsoft's direction. This change covered something more than 1,000 student devices and 300 faculty devices, so we are committed to this path as it would be very difficult to manage a change back to the older version - which is being sunsetted (sic) in October of 2020.1KViews0likes1CommentOneNote App or desktop Continued
Last August I started this conversation about whether the App (Not the Office desktop version) will be getting new features first: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Class-Notebook/One-Note-App-or-Desktop/m-p/97882#M141 I've been looking at the latest development here: https://blogs.office.com/en-us/2018/01/22/office-365-education-delivers-the-next-wave-of-innovation-for-inclusive-and-collaborative-learning/ And saw that you can now lock a page after marking it (the number 1 requested feature). The screenshot is of the App. I downloaded the latest classnotebook add-in and the lock page feature isn't there. Many teachers don't use the online version, and we've recommended that they don't. We also stopped using the App as it was causing problems, and so for us, the Office Desktop Onenote is our default product. So, as I suspected in August, we should now be using the App or Online versions to make use of these new features. Am I right? John1.1KViews0likes1Comment
