Defender
4 TopicsIntroducing Project Robin | New Feature
this one is a new flag you can enable: edge://flags/#edge-robin Microsoft Edge Version 91.0.852.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) I think, Project Robin is a way to show Windows Defender Application Guard windows as tabs, next to other regular tabs. because right now, when you open a new WDAG window, it has its own protected window, backed up by Windows Defender engine. this Project Robin might be a way to bring the 2 environments together in the same window. so far the feature doesn't seem to be fully implemented yet. when I try it, it takes me to https://dev.browse.trafficmanager.net/?header=0&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bing.com%2F&escape=newdomain&titlePrefix=0 and then nothing. it's exciting, waiting for future versions to see more changes.29KViews0likes4CommentsNeed explanation for this feature | Microsoft Defender SmartScreen Navigation Throttle
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen Navigation Throttle If enabled, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen will replace the current method of protecting against potentially harmful browser navigations. Mac, Windows #edge-smartscreen-nav-throttle The flag is in Edge Version 87.0.658.0 (Official build) dev (64-bit) I want to know what is the current method of Edge protecting against potentially harmful browser navigations, if not using Microsoft Defender SmartScreen? And also how is this possible on Mac that doesn't have Windows Defender? Lastly, is that flag connected to this option in Edge settings?Solved1.6KViews0likes2CommentsSerious Bug/Problem with Microsoft Defender Smart screen in Edge insider browser
I've been recently having so many problems with SmartScreen inside Edge Insider browser, yet I rather keep it turned on, find and report the problems, and hope they get fixed (instead of turning it off and forgetting about it), to help the development of this browser, so here is one of them, a totally safe software download is marked as unsafe again. At first step, I downloaded this program that I needed from a website that I've been using to download software for years and I rather not mention it here. I go on and click on "keep" because obviously I don't want to delete it. Here is the Second step, It tells me that this app is not commonly downloaded (which I don't care and it shouldn't be important at all, there are billions of useful apps and software that are very rarely downloaded and that doesn't make them any less trustworthy or safe. then it tells me this app is not signed by it's publisher which deserve a fair warning, so first I click on "report this app as safe" and then I go ahead and click on "keep anyway" because again I want it and need to use it. This is the Third step and where the main problem is, when I selected "report this app as safe", it took me to this website and as you can see it only gives me 2 options neither of which are about reporting an app as safe but they are both trying to report that app as UNSAFE instead. so yes the procedure implemented in Edge insider browser needs to change to Actually let people report an app as safe. in that page, there needs to be a 3rd option for it. p.s, don't bother clicking on that page, you will get this error because you must only be redirected to that page by your browser. hope developers pay the required attention to this issue. When I try to download multimedia files (.mp4, .mkv, etc) from https://www.seedr.cc/ they get marked as unsafe and harmful (which is totally false alarm) and it gets annoying because Edge insider keeps asking me all the time whether I want to keep the file or not. the files are totally Safe and I've been using this website for years, so please add an option to Edge insider to Remember our choice and don't ask the same thing again. P.S https://feedback.smartscreen.microsoft.com/smartscreenfaq.aspx Q: How are false warnings handled? A: Our goal is to minimize false warnings or blocks. In the rare case of a false warning, we offer a web-based feedback system to help users and website owners report any errors as quickly as possible. These reports are verified by our support team and mistakes are corrected. Please also add this "web-based feedback system" that this article is referring to to the Edge insider download UI when such false warnings happen, so users can report them easily.
