Suggestion (SS): 33 Classification: TIKTOK + PIP / picture-in-picture + audio control PRIORITY IN MY OPINION: 4-6 on a scale from 1 (low) to 10 (high) EDIT: i just found this picture in picture https://link.ws/pipdiscussion1 discussion in the feed too. 1) i don't see this directly is annoying i need to activate it via flags 2) pip doesn't work, even if i activate it goal like 360 chrome (or even better, see 3) or https://link.ws/vivopepip with better video control (sugg.17.) and pip buttons (sugg.18.), but avoid to put it over the downloader... There is no option to open a file and installer directly when we download files in Microsoft Edge and we have to save the file in order to open the file which is sometimes timeconsuming. So, I am suggesting a feature where there will be the same Chromium downloads UI and there will be the option to open and save the file before downloading and the option to cancel the download will always be there in the ellipsis(three-dotted) menu. If you like this feature and want it to come to Microsoft Edge, then you can also send feedback through the in-built feedback feature(Alt+Shift+I) in Microsoft Edge which will give this suggestion a +1.
[Downloads UI] Legacy UI is used when a download comes from a pop-up window
What is the issue? Edge now uses a modern-UI for handling downloads: an icon on the toolbar, just after the end of the Address Bar, which shows a vertical-list of downloads. However, when a download starts from a pop-up window, such as from the Microsoft Update Catalog site, the old-UI is used instead, which feels a bit inconsistent! Expected outcome That only the modern-UI will be used. Proposed solutions My preferred-solution would be to add a setting into Edge where the user can ask for pop-ups to load into a new tabs, instead of separate windows -- Internet Explorer 11 had such a setting. This would then mean pop-up content gets treated like any-other tab, and so would use the modern-UI. Alternatively, when a download starts from a pop-up window, the parent-window should come to the foreground, and the download then begin in that window. Suggestion (SS): 38 Classification: warning - download on tabs PRIORITY IN MY OPINION: 4 on a scale from 1 (low) to 10 (high) Edge devs, i wrote you before via feedback app, but i continue the topic here, so that other chromium based devs can read it too. We talked about reload by domain and why such feature is cool and useful. now a similar suggestion is that you detect all website that has the same identical layout (so screenshot based). if i click via menu bar or right click menu "warn me based on this website" you color all tabs that have the similar layout/design. related to the picture, you warn me if the link has not be saved correctly on all other tabs. now about this website we generally** can see such problems via the icon in the tab, but there are a lot other examples, where we need to check manually, otherwise we batch close not completed websites. **there are still situations where the icon is not a valid method to know if the website (in this case webarchive) completed the task correctly or not. this was another example we talked via feedback app where maybe a better integration between "smart screenshot warning" and "reload tab" should happen. another suggestion related to this is to show me on the tab an icon --> that marks you are downloading files from such tab and once the download is done, you color it in green.Suggestion: option to run or open downloaded files
From the time I have installed Microsoft Edge Chromium, I have to compulsorily save files when it is downloaded from the internet and not to just run or open it which were the options given in IE and Edge Legacy, because of that I have to delete the file after it was opened. It is a suggestion that option to run or open files is added in Edge Chromium. Untrusted downloads
When I download an Excel file with from an internal web server (AD-joined devices) the file is marked as unsafe: When I do the same in IE11 or Edge Legacy, the file is not marked as unsafe. If the file is marked as unsafe, the user gets the yellow bar saying enable to edit. This is a real impediment within our environment. In IE11 and Edge Legacy "Trusted" websites were configured within the Zones. How are websites "trusted" in Edge Chromium in regards to downloads? SmartScreen is disabled by GPO. I have not found any hint within the documentation. Any ideas?
Automatic Downloads of Multiple Files - Incorrect Behaviour???
Good afternoon I am running into issues when attempting the following task; I am on a local intranet page that contains multiple links to documents that can be downloaded, I click on the first link and it downloads fine however any subsequent links I receive the below message, this is despite adding the site to the allow list for automatic downloads. Is anyone else experiencing this behaviour or know a solution? Ideally I want to be able to allow multiple downloads from specified sites via group policy. Thanks.
