I frequently add comments/descriptions to the pictures in my Android and iPhone, however after spending a few nights backing up my albums, I found out only the photo files are uploaded and no comments are included. Is there a way to upload with comments or is that a limitation of OneDrive?63Views0likes1CommentOpen linked files in the associated dekstop app not online. Document Management in sharepoint.
I often use synced OneDrive folders or Teams Files from Microsoft Teams. I am currently considering mapping our management manual via OneDrive/ Sharepoint. To do this, it would be necessary to save all templates in one folder, for example. However, I then have folders for each process in which the required documents are linked. However, if I insert a link to a document there, the document first opens online on the web and then I can only open it in the original program (e.g. Word, Excel...). As I said, we mostly work with synchronized files and open them accordingly via Windows Explorer. The views in the original programs are often better than the online views. Does anyone have any idea how I can solve this problem? Another problem is that if the name or storage location of a linked document changes, the link is no longer valid. Is there not a way to link a document so that the link remains valid no matter where the document is saved or what it is called? To make the QM process complete, I would then like to use Sharepoint lists to create overviews of the documents with change history and version overview. Many thanks for your help.123Views0likes0CommentsDisable metadata on specific files
Hello, We use a specific software for the french construction market (Climawin), which are old Windows softwares. The outputs are typically cwx files. We use to work directly on OneDrive when using this soft. This work can be long (few days of work to start, multiple versions) and the soft makes an automatic backup file every 30 minutes. The pb is: the real file is small (25Mo) but OneDrive seems to save all versions of the file so it ends up being enormous (10Go). Is there any way to erase the metadata? or stop OneDrive from saving the metadata for this specific type of files? Thanks !124Views0likes0CommentsTagging in Onedrive for Business
Hi All, File tagging is a feature that is not available in Onedrive for Business yet, although competing cloud storage providers are already there (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/one-drive-files-tagging/a92a6323-46e0-4be3-a108-19a14a3e1f20). Can Microsoft confirm that tagging will be available in a new release of OfB ? The reason I'm asking is that we want to deploy OfB in our company but need an easy way of organizing or folders and files, so that it would be easy to retrieve a folder or file. A feature like tagging (or similar way of managing files) would be very helpfull. If a tagging feature would become available, when will it be released ? Thanks for the info. Does OneDrive not support metadata? Problem The only details I can see are as follows: Type, Modified, Added, Date created, Path Size. But my files have so much more metadata and categorizations. SharePoint file management is nice The experience in SharePoint is great; it has all of our files packed with useful metadata; at one organization I was even able to remove all folders and rely only on libraries and metadata, providing UI via web parts like the Highlighted Content, Feed, and Public Views. File duplicates across hundreds of people went from thousands to zero for the majority of the time. Time searching for files went down to mere seconds. Collaboration increased. File integrity improved. On other sites, we had a mixture of folders and metadata, but still those Public Views were invaluable for managing our department data. Onedrive seems to lose much of my file data! But moving over to OneDrive, it seems all that file storage functionality has been lost. Even existing file metadata seems to get lost during transfers. Devs seem to be throwing in some AI stuff, memories, but for some reason failing to listen to community feedback and add this basic functionality; even with complaints where Onedrive use resulted in lost and corrupted file metadata. Now they've announced the Next Generation of OneDrive but the topic doesn't seem to be addressed. I see requests and complaints on the internet going back years, including many over the past 12 months over on the feedback portal. Most of this feedback seems to go ignored though. Is there a reason why Microsoft hasn't allowed users to create a metadata column or to create custom views of our OneDrive libraries?412Views0likes0Comments
