Hey All, Looks like Microsoft won't be supporting Publisher after Oct. I have many hundreds of pages documenting the restoration of our land that I created in Publisher. I know I'll need to convert them to another publishing app. I'm wondering what others in this situation are choosing to do especially since Publisher doesn't convert to Designer. My needs are for an easy to use app as Publisher was and not something complicated. Any thoughts or ideas would be most welcomed! Marci7Views0likes0CommentsMicrosoft Publisher end date.
Here is a novel idea. If Microsoft is going to terminate Publisher in 2026, it would make sense for the programmers of Word to actually create an import function for Publisher files that faithfully creates the file in word. This is the opposite of forcing the end user to find ALL the previous Publisher files and convert them to pdf or Word.7Views0likes0CommentsMicrosoft 365 (Word) Paper Sizes
Today, I measured what is supposed to be 8.5" X 11" paper using an online ruler and found that my paper and padfolio sizes do not make sense. For example, my padfolio is actually 8.5'' H X 6.5" W based on the onscreen ruler. The printer paper I have bought states 8.5" X 11" but it is actually 7.5" H X 5 3/4 " W based on the onscreen ruler. Of course, the monitor is at a 100% and is supposedly 32 inches but only maps out to 18 3/4 according to the onscreen ruler. Therefore, I would like to know what the exact paper sizes are for Microsoft 365's 8.5" X 11" paper settings in both the web and desktop version.5Views0likes0Comments5.3.4 Maximum Body Parts error makes no sense
So I have one user who is plagued with one of the weirdest problems I've ever known in 30+ years of working with exchange - this is on Office365 She is sending emails from Outlook on Windows but then getting an NDR: Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: email address here Your message is larger than the size limit for messages. Please make it smaller and try sending it again. Diagnostic information for administrators: Generating server: GV1PR02MB8281.eurprd02.prod.outlook.com email address here Remote Server returned '554-5.3.4 Content conversion limit(s) exceeded 554 5.3.4 STOREDRV.Submit.Exception:ConversionFailedException; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message [BeginDiagnosticData]Content conversion: Maximum number of body parts (250) per message exceeded ConversionFailedException: Content conversion: Maximum number of body parts (250) per message exceeded[EndDiagnosticData]' That's not the weird part, the weird part is as follows: 1) Any other user can send the exact same message with no problem whatsoever 2) If I run an office repair (full online) or uninstall and reinstall office, then the problem goes away and her emails send again - for a short time, after about 20-30 emails they all start failing again with the above error. 3) None of the failing messages show up in exchange logs at all that I can find, ones that succeed I can see, ones that fail for other valid reasons I can see, but these 5.3.4 emails are just not in the logs at all, it seems like the server rejects them even before they enter mail flow logging. This is a largish and complex email they are trying to send, it does have a lot of inline images and some tables that I would expect to run the email up to around 30-40 parts (not sure how to check it). When this email is generating the 5.3.4 she can still send basic emails, it's only these complex ones that fail - but it's not the email that is the problem, other staff have been sending the same email in bulk (we are a PR company, it's a weekly mailer we send out to journalists) with no issues whatsoever, and as stated if we repair or reinstall office they temporarily send and then suddenly start failing again.13KViews0likes2CommentsLists: open item in new Forms in edit mode
Hi all, SharePoint Lists has these fancy new Forms which can be sent to other users to create a new list item. Is there a way to open an existing list item in a new Forms to allow users to update a data set? I already tried to append ?ID=[itemnumber] to the sharing link but that did not work. Any suggestions? :) Greetings24Views0likes1Commentwhy won't office 365 work since I paid for it?
Since I renewed my subscription to Office365, I have been unable to use it. Every time I open a Word document, I get the bar asking if I want to see what's new or to update Office. That's as far as I can get. I cannot open new documents, I cannot type or paste into the document that is open. And I have to open Task Manager to close the window. How can I fix this? If I have to download the software again, will I lose any information that I have on my computer?7.2KViews0likes3CommentsMicrosoft 365 Cloud vs Desktop Applications
I am having issues with the Microsoft 365 Professional version which supposedly should display the documents as a replica on the Cloud when edited using the Desktop version of the same application. Shown below is what a Microsoft Word document looks like side-by-side Cloud vs Desktop: It would seem that spacing and page breaks would hold properly in the Cloud version (shown on the left), but do not. My understanding is that Microsoft Office products have always had an XML base, so technically, what is produced using a Desktop version of an application should display as a replica when opened in a Cloud version of an application. However, what I am seeing is that I lose page numbering and properly spacing in my Cloud version of the same exact document which is pulled from the same exact file location. I am constantly doing double the work to create a perfect document. Are there any suggestions from Microsoft 365 support that might help remedy these formatting issues?13Views0likes0CommentsOffice.js preview features release
Office.js for PowerPoint has had a couple of preview features (getImageAsBase64, getSlideAsBase64) in preview now for nearly a year. I've done my best to search for any updates from the office.js on release timeline for these features with no luck. These two API calls are super convenient and enable features in the add-ins for PowerPoint which is near impossible to create using alternative solutions. Anyone out there with any knowledge on when we can expect these beta/preview features to be production ready?19Views2likes0CommentsTemplate and automation for To-do and Planner tasks
I really want to take advantage of Microsoft 365 To-do and Planner for my workflow, after months of using these two apps I found them have a lot of potential but fell short of being practical due to the poor-sighted UX design, lack of automation support, and weak integration with other 365 apps, Outlook in particular. Lack of template support (To-do, Planner): This is a crucial flaw of both To-do and Planner. For repetitive work flow, I want the ability to have a template of tasks and subtasks. Currently I'm making template by creating tasks or plans, name them "[Template]", and manually clone them. This is tacky as my "Template" tasks and plans kept populated under suggestions for things to do. Lack of automation (To-do, Planner): I want the ability to easily generate a particular template of task or plan from an Outlook email. This would speed up my work flow tremendously. Currently the best Microsoft offer in term of automation is to create a task with the email name and a link to that email. No subtasks nor planner integration whatsoever. Lack of bulk actions (To-do, Planner): This is specifically frustrating for Planner, I have to manually assign each task under a plan to myself, there is no option to assign tasks in bulk. Microsoft offers integration between To-do and Planner where Planner tasks can show up in my To-do list but only if it's assigned to me, what good does this integration do if the amount of manual work overtake the convenience? No archive option for Planner: Once a plan is completed, there is no option to archive it, user have to delete the plan or have it remains on UI forever, even the delete button is well-hidden. The lack of archive option means I cannot go back to previously completed plans and see the date each tasks is completed. Last but not least, it felt like these two apps don't get any attention from Microsoft. They rarely get updates, it's quite unsettling to use theses feeling like it's being abandoned by the company.10KViews5likes3Comments
