Navigation Menu
9 TopicsTurning off Shy Menu in SharePoint modern
Hi, I currently have a site set up and I'm using the hub feature to keep a consistant menu across the site. One of our users asked me why the menu keeps disappearing and I noticed that when you scroll down the page, the menu colapses (apparently to give the user more of a reading view style). After some research, I found out about the shy menu feature being added to modern sites and wondered if there was a way to turn this off. The space saved vs losing the menu entirely when scrolling is not worth it at all for the users of the site and they are becoming frustrated that they have to scroll to the top of the page to see the menu again. I've looked through the options in the change the look section and can't find any settings to change this behaviour. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Tom6.1KViews4likes7CommentsHub Site Global Navigation Not Updating
Hi there, I have a teamsite "Werfkeet" which is the main hub site. In the hub I have 3 other Team sites. Each Team site is supposed to have the same global navigation at the top of the page. The Team site of the main hub site has the "SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure" feature enabled. When I edit the navigation by clicking on edit on the main hub sites navigationbar it doesnt update the navigation on all hub sites. I've been testing a little bit and found out that when I reset my browser's cashe it does load correctly but I can not ask of the entire company to reset their browser cashe everytime there's an update to the SharePoint navigation. Things I've tried: - Turning off cashing in the navigation element settings of the main hub site. - Turning off cashing in the navigation settings of the main hub site. - Leaving the site alone over night to see if the navigation did update on its own the next day I've seen many posts about this problem: - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/sharepoint/hub-site-top-navigation-suddenly-disappeared/m-p/191249/page/2 - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/sharepoint/menu-not-updating/m-p/1309625 - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/sharepoint/cannot-update-hub-site-navigation/m-p/252314 - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/sharepoint/problems-editing-hub-site-navigation/m-p/252647 All similar to the problem I'm having (most the exact same thing) and none of them have a clear answer on how to fix the issue so that I can roll out new navigation to everyone simultaniously and easily without having to ask employees to do something to be able to see the update to the navigation. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?5.5KViews1like1CommentNavigation bar not updating for others
I am working with the global navigation for my home site. I have a repeating issue in which when i update the navigation (be it global or local site navigation) the user will for the first time need to click "edit" turn off then on audience targeting to see the navigation sync up to date. Once they do this once it works fine but this is a problem for global navigation as not all users have edit access to that and once we publish our sharepoint company wide we can not give edit access to every user across the company. Has anyone had this issue before? (The users role does not effect this issue it has happened to admins, editors, and visitors.)4.9KViews0likes1CommentHub Site Translation not working when switching to another language
We have a hub site with navigation enabled and also MUI setup for Arabic language. Each item in the menu has the translations. When user switches from English To Arabic, the whole UI experience changes except the Navigation. Changing the language requires the users to clear the browser Cache which is not a good experience. Even Ctrl + F5 do not helped here. Is there any way to force clear cache or force my portal to reload changed MUI Navigation? Do you really have to manually paste a URL when creating a new link in the Nav bar? How come it can't auto detect spoke sites that are part of the hub? There seems to be a missing link here unless I'm misunderstanding the purpose of a navigation bar and adding sites to a hub site...3.5KViews0likes4CommentsExtended Header Problem
When I apply the extended header to my Sharepoint site, the site navigation links disappear. This error was only seen with this header format. When I switch from extended to any other format, the navigation links reappear. Hi Guru. I used to edit my Navigation Menu in Homepage by clicking 'Edit' > '...', which allows me to edit the link address. However, few weeks ago, I found that it is not able to edit any Navigation item with 'Internal Link' anymore, system just allow me to edit item with External Link.. Would there any way can fix this issue? Thanks. Here is the screenshot for reference: 1. Edit with 'Internal Link' item: (Option and Address field are dimmed) 2. Edit with 'External Link' item (All field are editable) Thanks & Regards, T.Solved1KViews0likes2CommentsSticky, full size top-nav for SharePoint intranet.
So we're trying to build a corporate intranet which gives a web-like user experience using a SharePoint Homesite as the hub. We're pretty happy with the results so far, but there is one thing that is getting on my nerves... You are able to set a cross-site hub navigation with nice dropdowns, but when you scroll down the page a little, the nav/banner collapses leaving only a small bar with a logo and no links. Users must then scroll back to the top to see the links. I'm sure this is a helpful feature for some (?!) but if we could turn this off, and be able to control whether it happens, that would be great. And easy to implement I would imagine?1.5KViews0likes0CommentsSharePoint Online - Home page menu vs page menu
Hello guys I am just asking myself why the hell the menu on the home page is not the same as the same page that is not the home page of the site. Home Page Not home page The question is really simple and I suppose there is a hidden field that contains something specific. For example the home page of your modern team site will display the menu on the left in the table. If you go to the site pages library and copy this home page to a folder of the site pages library... then the home page (sitepages/home.aspx) AND the copied page (sitepages/folder/home.aspx), both will display the menu of the left in the table. If you edit the copied page, do nothing and publish it... then the page will display the menu of the right in the table. If you go to the SitePages/folder/ and make the home.aspx page there as homepage... then page SitePages/home.aspx will display the menu of the right, the the new home page (SitePages/folder/home.aspx) will display the menu of the left. So there is a way to have the same menu on different page if you copy the home page somewhere else and if you do not edit this page. Until you edit one of those copied pages, then you will have the left menu. As SharePoint online modern sites does not support MUI right now. I have to create multiple page (with the help of the language module from PnP community). But the only things is that the different pages will not have the same content in the new menu. Any way to have the same menu in different pages ? Thank you 🙂 for your help1.8KViews0likes0Comments
