I have a modern communication site and if I search a list for 'can', it will not return Canada, or Canadian in my results. but if I search for can*, both items will be returned. I believe it is possible to program classic search to append this wildcard automatically, so I don't need to type the * every time. But does anyone know how I can achieve this with modern search? And please no one reply with, "this isn't possible". It seems to me, that if this isn't possible, why hasn't Microsoft fixed this yet? I've never seen another intranet search engine work this way. Or am I missing a simple solution to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is not natural for end users to have to remember to type a * at the end of their search string, which consequently returns poor results for their searches..2.4KViews0likes5CommentsSharePoint Online - Guest users access to people search
Hi, I'm wondering if it is possible for guests users have access to people search in SharePoint Online. We are using search rest api to get results from people result source. I found this settings on Azure Portal (Users > User settings > External collaboration settings) Even with the most inclusive option, with a guest we can have access to people search results. I can't find any official documentation supporting the case - supporting or not guest to get people search results. Any idea? We moved over to use SPO as our Intranet back in July and as part of this move I created a new search page using PnP Search, Results, Verticals. Included in this is a people search so when you use the main search box at the top of our communication site it takes the data you entered in the box over to our new search page, where it then returns the most accurate data you have requested. This also works great as a people search. Unfortunately, we have just realised that if you type the name of a person in the main search box and click on the suggested name, this does not take the data over to the new search page so you have to enter the name of the person again on that page. Has anyone else come across this and if so, how did you get around it?? I have spoken with the break fix team who have advised that there is nothing they can do to help with this. It would either be great to send the name to the new search page or switch off the suggested people element from the main search box. If anyone knows how to do either I look forward to hearing from you. thanks662Views0likes2CommentsCross site collection search vertical
I am want to add a search vertical to a site collection that returns results from a related site collection. I have created the custom search vertical query as below. I've also tried without the quotes and asterisks. The search vertical shows up as expected but doesn't return results. Can verticals be used in this way and can someone assist with the proper syntax please?Solved1.3KViews0likes3CommentsSharePoint 2019 on-premise : Search results page, on click documents are downloading
Hello, On-premise 2019, we do have Office Online enabled/installed to open documents within the browser. When I open a document from doc lib, it opens in browser fine. But from the search results page, the documents automatically starts to download on click, instead of opening it in browser. Any help would be greatly appreciated.997Views0likes1CommentRemoving SiteAssets from Search
Hi! Had a question regarding SharePoint online. I noticed when searching for some content, the Site Assets > SitePages content pops up. Is there a way to prevent this from coming up in search for non admins? I see I can manage access on the Site Pages folder, but will that impact a user's ability to access anything else on the site?990Views0likes1CommentSearch with managed property not showing all results.
Hi all I have a site collection where I have enabled a site column called Content-Tags. I created a managed property, Refinablestring10 with the alias, ContentTags. I want to do a search in the search bar that will show me all the library items that have the tag "Carbon" in the content-tags column. I type in: contenttags:carbon into the search bar. My problem is that I only get one result when I should get 4. (there are four items with Carbon in the Content-tags column) Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong in this search? Thanks 🙂2.9KViews0likes2Commentsincomplete search results?
I have a question about the validity of search results being returned in a SharePoint Server 2019 environment. Here is an example of the scenario: I've created a list with about 10 columns. There is a single line of text column that includes a series of 1 or more 6-character, alpha-numeric codes which are used to uniquely identify people. When there is more than one code, the codes are currently separated by space. They were previously separated by a semi-colon, and I had the same issue I'm having now as described below. If I search the list's All Items view using one of the 6-character codes, the search does not return all list items that match the search criteria. It will only return partial results -- some where the specified code is the only code in the column and others where the specified code is one of several codes in the column. I've created a column index for this single line of text column, and I created a view filtered to only include list items that contain a specific code. The view results do include all of the matching list items. This is good. However, if I search the list view (using the "Find an item" box) by the same value that it is filtered by in the view design, then again it only finds partial results and thus decreases the number of list items shown in the view even though the search criteria is exactly the same as the view's filter criteria. I'm stumped trying to figure out how to make sense of this or how to make the searching actually work and find all results. On more than on occasion, I've clicked the list's "Reindex" button, and/or re-crawled the entire site, and/or reset the index at the site-collection level followed by full crawl, but none of this seems to help. We've even built a separate / clean environment to test this with, and have the same issue on both servers. What's going on?2KViews0likes2CommentsMicrosoft Search KQL question
I want to create a custom search vertical in Microsoft Search that returns People results only. I have created a new Search Vertical and added the following KQL in the Query option but it doesn't return any results. ({searchTerms})(ContentClass=urn:content-class:SPSPeople) Have I got the syntax right or am I missing something else? Any pointers to help solve this would be much appreciated.
