I would recommend changing the information regarding the syntax in the documentation for "CCDLocations" when file shares/SMB is in use from "type=smb, name="WINDOWS SMB PROVIDER",connectionString=\\<server-name>\<share-name>" to "type=smb,connectionString=\\<server-name>\<share-name>." I have had no success using the "WINDOWS SMB PRVIDER" in the syntax for CCDLocations.Improving AVD User Session Performance in Azure Insights
Problem: Finding a specific user session within Azure Insights for troubleshooting performance issues is currently a slow and cumbersome process. This significantly impacts the ability to quickly identify and resolve performance bottlenecks for individual users. Proposed Solution: Enhance Search Functionality: Implement a more robust search bar within the Azure Insights interface. Allow filtering by user name, session ID, start/end time, and other relevant criteria. Support advanced search operators (e.g., wildcards, boolean logic) for more precise searches. Consider adding a "quick find" or "search as you type" feature for faster results. Improve Session Visualization: Provide a more intuitive and visually appealing representation of user sessions. Consider using a timeline view with interactive elements (e.g., hover for details, zooming/panning). Enable color-coding of sessions based on performance metrics (e.g., latency, CPU usage, network bandwidth). Optimize Data Retrieval: Investigate and optimize the underlying data retrieval mechanisms to improve query performance. Consider caching frequently accessed data to reduce query latency. Explore the use of more efficient data storage and indexing techniques. Provide Contextual Information: Display more contextual information alongside each session, such as: User name, device name, location Session duration and start/end times Summary of key performance metrics (e.g., average latency, CPU usage) Links to relevant logs and performance data for deeper analysis Expected Benefits: Faster Troubleshooting: Significantly reduce the time spent searching for specific user sessions. Improved User Experience: Provide a more intuitive and efficient interface for investigating performance issues. Increased Productivity: Enable faster identification and resolution of performance problems, minimizing user downtime and improving overall productivity.New Service Improvement Idea: AVD Performance Insight Dashboard
Overview: Enhance the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) experience by introducing a dedicated dashboard that displays real-time CPU and memory usage for each AVD session along with the top 10 processes consuming CPU. This dashboard will empower IT administrators to quickly diagnose performance issues and optimize resource allocation. Key Features: Real-Time Monitoring: Display live CPU and memory metrics per AVD session. Auto-refresh capability to capture real-time performance changes. Process Analysis: Show a list of the top 10 processes consuming CPU per session. Provide detailed process metrics including CPU percentage, memory footprint, and process IDs. Historical Data & Trend Analysis: Archive performance data to visualize trends over time. Enable administrators to identify recurring patterns or spikes in resource usage. Alerting & Notifications: Set custom thresholds for CPU and memory usage. Generate alerts for sessions or processes that exceed set limits, triggering proactive remediation. Integration with Existing Tools: Seamlessly integrate with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics for deep-dive analysis. Export data to Power BI for advanced visualization and reporting. User-Friendly Interface: Interactive dashboard design with filtering options (e.g., by session, time frame, or specific metrics). Drill-down capability to analyze individual sessions or processes in detail. Benefits: Enhanced Troubleshooting: Quickly pinpoint performance bottlenecks by identifying resource-intensive sessions and processes. Proactive Maintenance: Early detection of abnormal resource usage allows for timely intervention before issues escalate. Optimized Resource Management: Understand usage patterns to make informed decisions on scaling, workload balancing, and capacity planning. Improved User Experience: Reduce downtime and performance issues, leading to smoother end-user operations in the virtual desktop environment. Implementation Considerations: Data Collection: Leverage AVD session performance counters and existing telemetry from Azure Monitor. Dashboard Development: Use modern visualization tools (e.g., Power BI or Azure Dashboard) for an intuitive user interface. Security & Compliance: Ensure data privacy and compliance with government/federal cloud standards where applicable.Windows Mobile App - iPad version on AVP pauses music when remote desktop output audio
I'm using the Windows Mobile App iPad version on Apple Vision Pro - if I play music in the Music app running on AVP and a remote desktop emits any sound then the Music app pauses and never resumes. Same applies to other audio content (e.g. YouTube audio/vide would pause when played on AVP/Safari if a remote desktop emmits sound and it wouldn't resume if the remote desktop stop emitting sound). It would be best I think if it would just mix audio (local and remote), or at least resume after the pause. Also, currently if I mute the remote audio, although it does get muted if an audio is played (still muted/inaudible) it still pauses audio/media on AVP.213Views1like7CommentsWindows Mobile App on Apple Vision Pro and Bluetooth Keyboard
When using the Windows Mobile application (iPad version) on the Apple Vision Pro with the Magic Keyboard, there is an issue. If I switch to another application or window (for example, Safari) and use the keyboard, and then switch back to the Windows application, the keyboard no longer functions. I must click on the virtual keyboard icon, then click again to disable it before the keyboard can be used again.87Views1like2CommentsmacOS Windows App Bug Report
Hello, I have two bugs I would like to report to the macOS Windows app development team. When typing fast, it converts characters to other characters, e.g. "or iṡit all" I had typed "or is it all" Teams app microphone doesn't work until I quit out of Windows app and reopen it. Sometimes I have to do it multiple times. Sometimes I have to complete quit out of Teams inside the Windows app and reload it. Sometimes I have to restart the Windows app CloudPC. Sometimes I have to restart both my host macOS system and the CloudPC system.Using Powerpoint on Windows App on MAC M1 Pro
I am using the latest version of the "Windows App" as of 17.10.24 (updated this morning). I'm logged into a Windows 10 Cloud PC hosted by Microsoft. Generally the experience is ok but it is more laggy than the same Cloud PC used with "Windows App" on a Win10 laptop (much older and lower spec!). However when it comes to using Powerpoint to update a deck it is unusably slow, taking seconds to update the screen and move items around. My Macbook and my Windows PC (which as I stated is much older) are both in the same location on the same WiFi and both are up to date on OS, patch and App versions. I'm looking to understand if this is a known issue with the "Windows App" on Mac and if so is it being addressed, if not can it be raised as an issue. Many thanks.Bug: Microsoft Remote Desktop on Mac Hangs when copied a large file on remote desktop
I've found a bug that happens to hang Microsoft Remote Desktop on Mac quite often. With shared clipboard enabled (It might also reproduce without shared clipboard, but I didn't try it): On the remote desktop, copy a folder or solution that is fairly large. It doesn't need to be multiple gigabytes, but tens of MB usually can do the trick. Then, switch back to your normal desktop. Once I do this, my Microsoft Remote Desktop now pinwheels and hangs, and I must force quit it and restart it in order to access my remote desktop again.625Views0likes3CommentsWindows App Disconnects my Remote session randomly
It seems the Windows App (for Mac) disconnects me from my Remote Desktop session randomly. It could stay connected for a few seconds or unto 45 minutes. Doesn't matter if its idol or if I am doing something... I am using WireGuard but have also tried with L2TP and get the same results If I connect from my Windows VM using Wireguard and Remote Desktop all is good so everything is pointing to Windows App. There are a couple of entries in my Console relating to Windows App when it crashes but that couple be for any reason... Anyone else have similar or could offer any help please let me know183Views1like2Comments
