Say hello to the new Favorite Sidebar feature in the Edge browser
Microsoft Edge Version 87.0.654.0 (Official build) dev (64-bit) (This could be a controlled feature rollout meaning only available to a subset of insiders) this is the new view you get when you click on favorites button on Edge toolbar and once you click on that Pin icon, the sidebar will show up I love this mechanism and implementation, very neat and smart! thanks also the favorites menu no longer closes when you open favorite sites in new tabs, something I know a lot of people asked for.[Solved] Edge sidebar needs to be resizable and open links we click on inside sidebar
Update: starting Edge version 109 (currently in canary channel) these features are implemented and available. When we search for something in the Edge sidebar, a minimalistic view of Bing search is shown, but lots of times I want to be able to drag the edge of the sidebar panel and pull it left/right to resize it, mostly to make it bigger. also, this one is super annoying, so you highlight a piece of text and search for it in the sidebar, and you find something interesting that you need to click on, the moment you do it, the browser opens a new tab and shifts your focus to that newly opened tab. we need to be able to click on a link inside Edge sidebar and be able to keep browsing inside it, without leaving there and opening new tab. (the same annoying thing happens with Windows search, the moment you click on a video, picture, website, a browser window opens!) these 2 features need to be implemented together because they complement each other. when you are able to open links inside the sidebar, you will most likely feel the need to expand the sidebar and make it a little bigger. so, the sidebar at its current state is not "very" useful, it sure supplies some quick brief info about subjects but it has potentials that these 2 suggested features can help unleash.Vertical tabs, Smart copy and Password Monitor are coming to Edge!

The more you have open, the more difficult it becomes to find, switch between, and manage them. With vertical tabs, you can easily shift to view your tabs in a pane to the side. This allows you to easily see the titles and access controls like mute and close. It even makes it easy to reorder your tabs, with the ability to drag and drop to rearrange. When you want to focus on a specific page, you can collapse the pane. Anytime you need to switch between tabs, you can hover over the pane to see all the information you need. The new Microsoft Edge is the only browser to offer built-in vertical tab navigation allowing for a more streamlined experience. Password Monitor Data breaches worldwide have been on the rise and the security of your data is one of our top priorities. Password Monitor on the new Microsoft Edge notifies you when your online credentials have been detected on the dark web. If Microsoft Edge uncovers a match with your saved passwords, you will receive a notification on the browser informing that your credentials have been compromised. Hi, At least in my humble opinion it would be great to have the option available to be able to hide the sidebar automatically instead of only having the current two options that are available, to hide or display. I haven't checked yet in the 'experimental flags' area to see if an flag for doing this might in fact be available, but by having the sidebar showing it takes up valuable viewing area when I'm trying to view a webpage. Feature Request The Tools section of the Sidebar has almost every widget one would need, even including a handy dictionary. However, it is missing at least one additional tool: the translator! It seems that the widgets inside the Tools section are the same ones displayed when you search for them with Bing, so adding the translator should be easy. The translator is a powerful tool and having it alongside these other tools is necessary! An Additional Thought (it may be related, but is really a separate idea) Depending on how the dictionary widget works, it might be a cool idea to be able to select a lookup language. If I have a word in another language and I want the definition, it would be convenient to just ask the dictionary for the definition of that word (and be able to tell the dictionary the language to which it belongs); as opposed to having to use the translator (which isn't included in the Tools section) to get the word in English, then going back to the dictionary to get the definition.SS28: selection to bookmarks + vivaldi example of what i reported you previously
Suggestion (SS): 28 Classification: Bookmarks PRIORITY IN MY OPINION: 4 on a scale from 1 (low) to 10 (high) Here my idea i got after visiting a suggestion in vivaldi about add current tab to a folder (which is available for vivaldi and edge). I tested it out and in edge is available, but creates problem, like where you continuosly add it under ddd instead inside ddd. only 1 time you added it in ddd. PS: is not the first time i see problems with other bookmarks, you should check if all functions really work correctly with other bookmarks. Same if i do that you should avoid to show me that for the creation of folders. <<<<<<< second: i tried to select 3 tabs, and then do the same. is not possible. <<<<<<< third: i still think vivaldi add to bookmark option without right click is much better. please consider to implement it to edge too. <<<< because we are talking about vivaldi, here other points i like reload miniature (i suggested this to you only for bookmarks bar) like i suggested you with shortcut for bookmarks and other things (i noticed only after sending you the suggestions, that vivaldi has already such option, but still limited compared to what i told you, which is much more complex) this is similar to what i told you too, but vivaldi show us directly the webpage, is not a second bookmarks bar ability to change default bookmarks bar. (NEW SUGGESTION, but less important, since i use different profile. it still remains cool) same like i wrote you yesterday to remove things from the bar position of new tab, like i suggested you keep last tab open, like i suggested you a lot of option like i suggested you (or better some things are not available in vivaldi too) show me only icons inside bookmarks bar, full name in other bookmarks or when you hide url from bookmarks bar (like suggested). i still think a way to add personal customized folder color to bookmarks is usefull too even if i don't really like to use shortcuts (via keyboard with crtl alt etc., not things like <ddd $dd) ... but i like how they do. trackpad gesture, like suggested is much more clean search always in new tab (NEW SUGGESTION) .... PS: until now i don't use vivaldi, because they create library folders problems. so i just use it as a normal second browser for quick searches. this is why maybe the list of good features is not complete. once devs fix such problem, i can send more vivaldi based suggestion too. i still think main points are now available in this post, a lot is already included in previous submitted suggestions. Here even what i don't like previews different colours for each tab ... other ... (yes, you can disable such things). about the download suggestion, something like where i can set "save to /user/ccc/applications" and then "save this website always in this folder" or "if /externaldrive/... is not available, use /user/ccc/applications instead".Edge sidebar is good but this makes it less useful
I can highlight a piece of text and search for it in the sidebar, but the moment I click on a link in sidebar, it opens a new tab! this the opposite of what I expect and want. I want to search for something in sidebar and keep using the sidebar to complete my search. the whole idea is not to leave your current tab and do your search, right? but with this behavior, the user is interrupted and taken to a different tab. another option I see missing is to right-click on a link and open it in sidebar. last thing, make the sidebar panel resizableWhat is going on? Edge Stable has Sidebar now, and the Official Change log says nothing about it !?
Just updated Edge Stable last night and now It's got Sidebar! Version 87.0.664.55 => to => 87.0.664.57 (Official build) (64-bit) the Official change log says the update was only: "Fixed various bugs and performance issues." https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-relnote-stable-channel but apparently not! Is this controlled feature rollout in Stable channel? why is Sidebar Not mentioned in the Official change log in Microsoft Docs? this is Super confusing. not only for home users but also for businesses.
