I schedule many videoconferences with people outside my organization (some of them repeated) and the way I do it now is to create a Teams meeting link from my Outlook invitation and then send this to the meeting invitees. I would prefer to create a permanent link that I can always give to people, for example, in an email message, without having to generate a new Teams meeting each time in Outlook. I considered simply reusing the same link from a previous meeting for subsequent meetings, but it seems that each Teams meeting creates its own space in Teams. So, it seems that people I meet with later would be able to see the names of those whom I met with earlier using the same link, as well as any conversations I might have had with them. So, I don't think this is what I want--I want a link that gives meeting attendees access to only the present, live meeting, with no access to past exchanges using the same link. This is important to respect the privacy of each meeting. I initially posted this as a help question to Microsoft Teams support, but they said that it is not an existing feature. If this is not currently a feature, could anyone here possibly suggest a workaround that would let me use the same permanent link for all my videoconferences (e.g. with a short URL), but that preserves the privacy of attendees across different meetings using that same link? This is similar to what many videoconferencing services (e.g. Zoom and Whereby) offer.Solved248KViews23likes32CommentsWhy aren't video feeds at the top of the screen?
About 90% of webcams are located at the top of monitors, whether the user is using a laptop or desktop monitors. Why was it decided to put user video feeds at the bottom of Teams video calls? During meetings where someone is sharing their screen (which is a majority of meetings I'm in), when I watch other users talking, our video feeds all show us looking down rather than looking up into our webcams. Seeing others' video feeds of them looking back at you is far more engaging and organic feeling than seeing everyone looking down, which feels like they are looking away/not paying attention. That is why Webex puts the video feeds at the top of the window.Solved9.8KViews5likes5CommentsCropping my video during calls
Hello is there a way to manually crop the my video so that not everything behind me is visible. Effectively zooming in on my face. My camera has a pretty wide area of view and I would prefer to cut some out. Skype had the functionality so I hope it comes to teams. Is this a planned enhancement at some point in the near future?34KViews2likes2Comments[Linux V4L] Video isn't working We couldn't use your webcam for video.
I cannot get my video4linux devices working with Teams. OS: Ubuntu 18.04 When I run Teams it shows a report that all devices are connected: But then when I do the test call, a message appears on the top: Video isn't working We couldn't use your webcam for video. All other V4L-compatible apps like for example Vokoscreen work perfectly. Any ideas what's wrong with another MS product on Linux? UPDATE. I checked out logs but found there nother about video or Teams having any issues with video. Basically, when another V4L device gets created, Teams shows no video at all, including the one from the default web camera.3.7KViews2likes1CommentTeams Meeting Recording does not include Embedded Video from PowerPoint presentation
One of my customers ran into an interesting issue recently that I have been able to replicate. I'm curious if others are also experiencing this, and if there's a way to make it work properly. Here's the scenario: A PowerPoint slideshow is shared in a Teams meeting using the "Present in Teams" button from PowerPoint. The slideshow contains an embedded *.webm video that was recorded with Stream (on SharePoint). Participants in the meeting are able to see and hear the video correctly during the meeting. In the Teams meeting recording, the audio and video from the *.webm video does not work... it appears blank on the slide as if no video was played. In some testing with the customer prior to the meeting, the video file playback quality was best when using the "Present in Teams" button instead of a screen share in Teams with computer audio. I had assumed this built-in sharing method would be our best route. We did not realize the meeting would be recorded and did not test that specifically. After the issue occurred, I recorded a new video and created a new PowerPoint slideshow to test this in 3 scenarios... First by sharing the PowerPoint app from the Teams meeting. The Teams meeting recording contained the audio and video properly from the embedded *.webm file that was played. Second, from the Teams meeting, sharing the entire screen including computer audio, the embedded *.webm video again played properly in the meeting recording. Third, when using the "Present in Teams" button from PowerPoint, the *.webm video played correctly during the meeting, but the Teams meeting recording did not contain audio or video from the embedded *.webm video, just like what my customer experienced. I can't tell if this is a known limitation, an issue with Teams meeting recording functionality, or an issue with PowerPoint. If anyone has some insight to share, it would be greatly appreciated! Stream video playback in Teams chats and channels is now inline, meaning that the video plays direct without any need to call the Stream browser client. It’s a good update that makes watching Stream videos a very seamless experience. It would be nice if Microsoft can improve some other integration points where Stream and Teams touch because some of the other integration features don't work so well. In other news, SharePoint Online is rationalizing how it stores user photos. https://office365itpros.com/2023/07/28/stream-video-playback-teams/870Views1like0CommentsHow to disable the video portion of the presenter?
Is there a way for individual participants to disable the video portion only (not the audio or share my screen stuff) of the presenters feed? In a work remote world as we are now in its important for those working remotely to have tighter control over the bandwidth TEAMS uses and for those with low bandwidth connections the video portion of the presenters feed is just a waste of bandwidth.1.2KViews1like3CommentsTeams Meeting Large gallery shows your image mirrored and other image inconstancies
I have have been trying out the new Teams meeting experience at all my meetings over the last few days getting all the participants to set it up. There is an inconsistency in the way the images are portrayed. In the standard Gallery mode and the Together mode my own image is mirrored which is fine as that is how we are all used to seeing ourselves when looking in a mirror. However in the Large Gallery mode my image was not mirrored so when looking at my video every movement I made seemed backwards at it was opposite. This was vey disconcerting to me every time I moved it seemed alien so I had to switch this view off. I also noticed that for the other participant that the Gallery and Large Gallery showed their images one way around yet the Together mode had flipped their images. It seems very illogical not to have a standard way of displaying images, See screenshots below. Anyone know if this is a bug or just inconsistent coding?15KViews1like6Comments
