Microsoft’s announcement of the Viva Goals retirement came as a complete surprise to the customers using Viva Goals to implement the OKR methodology for their organization. From Microsoft’s text, it seems pretty clear that Viva Goals just didn’t succeed in winning sufficient customers to warrant ongoing development. The outcome is that Microsoft cut its losses and will retire Viva Goals. https://office365itpros.com/2024/12/09/viva-goals-retirement/1.7KViews5likes9CommentsViva Engage Items Show Up in Search Results
News that Viva Engage search results are included in the results generated by Office.com and SharePoint.com is not unexpected. Only certain Viva Engage items appear in search results such as storyline items and question and answers from public communities. In other news, ten years after Microsoft’s Acompli acquisition, there’s no doubt that Outlook Mobile is a huge success. https://office365itpros.com/2025/01/02/viva-engage-search/49Views0likes0CommentsCan't add Viva Engage community calendar to Outlook
We would like to experiment with using the SharePoint Online Web part that allows you to display a group calendar on a SharePoint Online page. Our idea is to use a Viva Engage community as a means to create that group calendar so that the features of a community can also be used for this scenario. I assumed that it worked similarly to Microsoft Teams whereas along as the "HiddenFromExchangeClientsEnabled" property is FALSE for the connected group, that either all community admins/members would see the group calendar show up in Outlook automatically OR you could manually add the calendar in your calendar lists in Outlook. Neither seem to be the case. What's interesting about the group that connects to a Viva Engage community is the ""HiddenFromExchangeClientsEnabled" property is FALSE by default. However, the group calendar does not appear in Outlook. As a community admin, I tried to manually add the calendar and I get an error message "Couldn't add [group]. You may not have permissions". Does anyone know why I'm running into that error and/or why the group mailbox is not showing up in Outlook by default since the property states that it is not hidden? Is it not possible to view Viva Engage group calendars in Outlook? Thanks!764Views0likes2CommentsHow to Disable the Viva Engage Core Service Plan
As part of its rebranding of Yammer to Viva Engage last week, Microsoft added the Viva Engage Core service plan to user accounts. Which is nice, unless a tenant had blocked Yammer. The new service plan means that accounts can now use Yammer In many cases, it won’t matter too much that users can now access Yammer, but in other instances it will. In any case, we should tidy up by removing the Viva Engage Core service plan from any account that already blocks Yammer. Some PowerShell does the trick, but it would have been nice if Microsoft had thought things through a little more. https://office365itpros.com/2023/02/20/viva-engage-core-service-plan/19KViews1like7CommentsDistribution List Email failed and I don't understand why
We are a non-profit with limited IT experience, so please be kind with responses. Hoping you can provide some guidance to assist with how to fix this. Hi, I'm looking for suggestions to improve the experience of Office 365 users with MFA. We're using Conditional Access in Azure AD to apply MFA to Office 365 users coming from outside the corporate network. The issue we have experienced is that users get separate MFA requests for each of the O365 application components included in the Conditional Access policy. They get an MFA check for Outlook, another one for SharePoint, a third for Yammer. Our users find this annoying. How can we configure Azure AD so we MFA once for all component apps contained in the CA policy? Cheers, TonySolved17KViews1like6CommentsDuplicate Viva Engage Emails
I have a user who gets 4-5 of the same email updates from Viva Engage. The title and the content are the same in every email and they get them over the course of a few days. Here is what their Viva notification settings look like: Here is the emails they are getting: The user says that there is no new content. And from what I can see the post in question that keeps popping up in emails has not been liked of commented on by the user. The user is also not an Admin of the Wellness Engage community.397Views0likes0CommentsYammer/Viva Engage Notifications in Teams
Hello, I've been trying to get Yammer/Viva Engage Notifications to work in Microsoft Teams. There is three methods I know of that I've already tried: There seems to be a option in the Microsoft Teams Notifications Settings that you can use if you have added the Viva Engage App in Teams. Problem is that this option doesn't show up for me. And by default I do not get notified in Teams about new conversations in Yammer. Does anyone know why this isn't available to me? You can use a Yammer Connector in a Teams channel which posts the new conversations in the Teams channel. This worked a few times, but it has stopped working for some reason. I have set up the connector using my User and I am admin in the Yammer communities that I have selected in the connector settings. You could use the Power Automate App with a Yammer workflow to post cards in the Teams channel. This options works, but looks the least appealing, and I would love to use one of the other two options instead if possible. Has anyone set up a Yammer connection to Teams that actually works? I would appreciate it if you could help me out! Many thanks in advance.5.2KViews2likes4CommentsMicrosoft Dumps Yammer Brand
Microsoft announced that they will rebrand Yammer as Viva Engage. The decision isn’t surprising given the relative lack of success the Yammer brand has had within Microsoft 365 since its acquisition in 2012. The hope is that the now-renamed Yammer can forge ahead and be more successful under the Viva brand. Time will tell. https://office365itpros.com/2023/02/14/viva-engage-yammer/778Views0likes0CommentsNew on-demand training content on SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Yammer & Microsoft Stream
