I am trying to get the official MS Teams application to run on my Ubuntu 20.04 machine. No matter how I install it, it will not display any sort of window when ran normally (i.e. clicking the icon in Applications, running teams if installed with apt, or running 'snap run teams' if installed with snap). When I run snap run teams, I get this error: 2022/02/18 10:15:43.002794 cmd_run.go:1039: WARNING: cannot start document portal: Expected portal at "/run/user/197001104/doc", got "/home/username/.cache/doc" When installed with apt and I run 'teams', I get no output and the process ends immediately. The only way I am ever able to get a window to display is if I install with snap, 'snap install teams', then run it with 'snap run --trace-exec teams'. Then it works as expected. When not ran with 'snap run --trace-exec teams', I can see several processes running when I check 'ps aux | grep teams'. These never close themselves and require a 'kill <PID>' to exit. I have tried the following versions with apt/dpkg: 1.4.00.26453 1.3.00.16851 1.2.00.32451 and the version snap installs is: 1.4.00.26453 I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing my cache using the following script, and any combination of the three. https://gist.github.com/mrcomoraes/c83a2745ef8b73f9530f2ec0433772b7 ~/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft Teams/logs/teams-startup.log A JavaScript error occurred in the main process Uncaught Exception: Error: /usr/share/teams/resources/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/native-utils/build/Release/native-utils.node: undefined symbol: _ZN5Utils32IsQuietHourOrDoNotDisturbEnabledEv at process.module.(anonymous function) [as dlopen] (ELECTRON_ASAR.js:143:31) at Object.Module._extensions..node (internal/modules/cjs/loader.js:722:18) at Object.module.(anonymous function) [as .node] (ELECTRON_ASAR.js:152:18) at Module.load (internal/modules/cjs/loader.js:602:32) at tryModuleLoad (internal/modules/cjs/loader.js:541:12) at Function.Module._load (internal/modules/cjs/loader.js:533:3) at Module.require (internal/modules/cjs/loader.js:640:17) at require (/usr/share/teams/resources/app.asar/external/v8-compile-cache/v8-compile-cache.js:173:28) at Object.<anonymous> (/usr/share/teams/resources/app.asar/node_modules/native-utils/index.js:1:173) at Object.<anonymous> (/usr/share/teams/resources/app.asar/node_modules/native-utils/index.js:3:3) snap version snap 2.54.3+20.04.1 snapd 2.54.3+20.04.1 series 16 ubuntu 20.04 kernel 5.13.0-28-generic If any other info is needed or would be useful for troubleshooting, please let me know. Hello, I have not been able to share the screen (or other windows) like I used to share with MS Teams running inside Google Chrome 109.0.5414 on Ubuntu 22.10. The only thing I can share is other tabs inside Google Chrome. The same thing is happening inside Chromium 109.0.5414. The strange thing is that Google Chrome and Chromium display the following message: "Go to Security & Privacy > Screen Recording to give permission and start sharing." But I do not have these Security & Privacy Settings. I am not using macOS, where I know about these settings. On Linux, there are no such settings. Are there any other options on a Linux System to set to make sharing screens possible once more? Thanks in advance. Details: - Ubuntu 22.10 with GNOME 43.1, Wayland - Chromium 109.0.5414 (via snap) and Google Chrome 109.0.5414 (via dpkg/apt)15KViews1like7CommentsWhen can we expect the new meeting experience on Linux?
Hi, I'm happy to finally have the raise-hand feature in the native Linux client for Microsoft Teams. Unfortunately I am still only ever able to see 4 people at most. When can Linux as well as Web Client users expect to see use feature? Best, Martin8KViews3likes4CommentsUpdate 1.4.00.4855-1 breaks Teams for Linux
I'm on Fedora 33 latest patches and I recently got the 1.4 Teams update. It completely broke my ability to join calls somehow. Anybody else have this issue? A simple rollback to 1.3 fully restored functionality. Whenever I click a meeting link in 1.4 Teams says "unable to join this call." Strangely after update Teams asked me to sign in like I'd never used it before - yet it shows all prior chat history. $ sudo dnf list --showduplicates teams Last metadata expiration check: 0:00:10 ago on Wed 10 Mar 2021 03:12:51 PM GMT. I've been using Teams for Linux (mostly the teams-insiders flavor) for a couple of years, using Microsoft's official repos to install. I used it two weeks ago without issue. Today, I tried to open it and found it just immediately exits. Same behavior in both teams and teams-insiders (both packages say version 1.4.00.26453). I've tried re-installing, even rebooting, with no change in behavior. Other electron apps, including code-insiders, continue to work fine. I had an older teams version .deb lying around, so I tried that: and the older version works fine. Regression testing shows that everything after 1.3.00.25560 appears to not run anymore. My best guess is that a recent OS upgrade to glibc (v2.35 was released Feb 3rd) has caused the particular version of electron being used for current Teams builds to crash on launch - possibly due to clone3 calls? EDIT: Confirmed. Downgraded to glibc v2.34 and the newer Teams versions run again. Are there any plans by MS to upgrade (or at least patch) the electron version they're using to wrap Teams? EDIT2: As a workaround, I'm going to just use the Flatpak version of Teams instead of Microsoft's repos. It seems to work fine, and is less hassle than the other workarounds. https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.microsoft.Teams Specs: Ubuntu 22.04 (devel repos), Kernel 5.16, 128GB RAM, nVidia RTX 2070 Super, AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, Plasma desktop / KDE 5.24.1. strace: https://pastebin.com/D7BpFhYA4.4KViews2likes2CommentsIssue Loading Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu 18.04
I'm trying to access Microsoft Teams desktop on Ubuntu 18.04 After installation of .deb file, I run "teams" command and two window start, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Teams Preview. One is blank and the other I cannot open. Any ideas about how to fix this, and use Teams desktop on Ubuntu? (My main aim is to edit xlsx files, but you can't do this in the browser) (I can add my log if that is helpful)44KViews0likes7Commentspersistent wrong account suggestion on linux startup
I do face a problem running linux teams. every time I start up Teams it asks me if it should change to a Guest account with an external organization I had been invited to some time ago, and which I have to use occasionally. since a few weeks (after I had to interact by this guest account more frequently) this inconvenience popped up. and I wonder - how to get rid of it?961Views1like1CommentTeams Linux app - view more people and add background
Hello, Just wondering when the following features will be added to the Linux Teams app. My company uses Teams for a lot of meetings and also has a large group of developers who run Linux for their work. Are the following features in development for the Linux app? - view more than 4 people at once - add a background image What can we, the Linux users, do to help you get these features prioritized and developed?2.5KViews8likes1Comment
